Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Okay, got a hall light replaces upstairs. Not fond of being on a stepladder at the top of the stairwell, but it's done.
Had an idea that got me so excited I almost needed a cigarette...I could actually hire someone to paint all the downstairs and the upstairs hallway...it's a thought.
Gotta go get ready to go to the pool. Just found out that Mr. Mature Professional New President isn't coming to the meeting...
I. Don't. Care.

Hire somebody? Is that, you know, legal?
Morning! I'm not doing anything today. And I'm gonna enjoy it.

SirKit and I were talking about that this morning. We don't have the opportunity to do volunteer out of town right now, but when Clare and Joseph are gone from home, we'll be freer to do that. SirKit has even thought it might be useful to get an electrician's license in order to be able to help out in disaster areas, helping people get back on line after power outages. He's even thought it might be a good opportunity for income after his retirement that would not be location specific.
He looked into requirements for being a licensed electrician in MA, and it is quite prohibitive! You have to take classes, pass the test, then work 8000 hours over four years before receiving a license. There's no way someone could work on it part time. Up here, it's a union thing, so it's made extremely difficult.
He was looking into getting a license from MS, which could be then used in AL or TN and a couple of other places down South.

..."The President can take it."Heh, I liked Bush 41's comment about Barbara's feelings about criticism of her son. He said, if someone wants to be critical in front of her, they'd better be wearing their flak jackets!

That would be a great service, Hair! So many people are most upset right now because their family members have been spread out all over the country because of the evacuations, and they don't know if they are alive or dead. That is the most stressful thing people are dealing with right now.

A big voicemail system has been donated that can provide as many as 75,000 voicemail boxes through 800 numbers. Refugees in the shelters could use this system to leave greetings and receive messages from family. Banks of phones are also being donated. They may need a lot of people to help actually get people enrolled in it.Now there's an idea that never would have occurred to me, and it's a great one.
Keep us informed of what you end up doing if ya can!

Well, if it helps, we can show you some good places to eat in Austin and a few in San Antonio too. Not that familiar with Houston, Dallas, etc., but there are others that may be able to help in those areas....
