Yah know... after I watched a family pulled off some roof yesterday morning by that CG helo... there were a couple of younger teen-aged black girls and what I suppose was their somewhat older brother (maybe 17, 18). I saw him look up at the coastie on his roof, then watching all around and up at the helo as he was hoisted out of there... and I thought:
That kid is going to join the Coast Guard. He's hooked, and maybe the sisters too. But he's a goner. You could see it in him.
I dunno, but I thought it was really neat.

Episode 3 comes out today at the cheap cinema...the jedis got up early and started school so they can go at noon.
I just heard Katie Couric interviewing the former mayor of NO. Said "All these scientists said the levies needed to work...why didn't the money come in from the government to fix them?" The guy replied "We have been struggling for appropriations for years and can't get the needed funds." Then in the very next breath he said "Everyone is surprised at the extent of the levy breaks...some of which were reinforced just last year."
Confusing.
Mine expired yesterday too but I have a month's grace period. Registration goes in the mail today... I just had to wait to get paid, see.

You get a month's grace period? GAK! If you're caught the next day here, you have to park the car and you can't move it. You have to have someone come pick you up. It gets towed to a place where the inspection can be done and you get a ticket for having an out of date sticker then you have to pay for the towing and the new inspection! It's awful! This happened to Paul right after he got home from Paris last year. His sticker had expired a couple of weeks before, but since his car had been parked the whole time, we didn't notice it. I had to go pick him up, then, since it was the weekend, had to wait until Monday to go back and get it. What a pain!

I feel bad for those folks on the interstate...they tried to get out, they aren't looting...and they're stuck in the hot sun.
Yeah, me too.
Who knows how many dead people they're going to find in attics.
Don't have much sympathy for looters and people who shoot at the rescue folks.
I was planning on going back home next weekend but they're talking about closing some airports due to lack of jet fuel. Atlanta's on the list and that's where I make my connection.
