New verse:

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
You know, it's ironic. I was talking to PE just a week or so ago about how we (as a nation) need to start building homes and such the way they were built before air conditioning and electricity in case of emergency.
I know what you mean.
That's a horrible fire. The whole place is a total loss. Some fine boats in there. Very sad.
I know. People have poured their heart and considerable money into some of those boats... I posted a thread too and pinged you.
You know, at first I thought that was a picture of the marina that burned in New Orleans. Amazing.
I hope to have it back tonight.
And WOO-HOO on the extra $$$!
I'm already saving for RockyMoot.;-D
Joshua cracks me up. Children truly are the joy of life.
mmmmmm....bad romance novels....
Saw your name, had to flag ya, off topic, but is there any word on how Elain is doing? I think of him so often.
oooooooooops...make that Elian!
*sigh*
You always hope these events will bring out the good in people.
My personal experience was that it brought out the absolute worst. The "every man for himself" principle is taken to extremes, and some folks just go back to acting like animals.
:-(
No offense to decent animals everywhere.
*waves and smiles*
WOW! Long time, no see!
He's under lock and key, chica. He's only trotted out for Castro's rallies. :-(
None of his family here has been able to speak to, much less see him, since he was taken. And they did attempt to send some of the clothing and toys they had over to Cuba - figuring that at the very least they'd let him have those things.
But delivery was refused. Very frustrating.
I'm just waiting for Castro to die and then we'll find out what ~exactly~ happened to Juan Miguel's asylum requests.
Although we pretty much know the answer to that already.
Oh, I'm not worrying about it...I wish there was something I could do to help (being a nurse, that's natural). I have nightmares about water all the time...you know how I am about that!
Holding my kids a bit closer, though...
Is there any documented proof that Juan requested asylum?
Seems to me gregg craig, bill clinton, janet reno and joan campbell along with other assorted pigs kept Juan and Elian and second wife and child well away from ANYONE Juan could make that plea too...clinton kept Juan in an American prison...oh yes..a NICE prison...but not even a UNITED STATES SENATOR who could have offered asylum to Juan was allowed to see Juan....when he was first put up at ANdrews AFB....in fact....the DOJ took over controll of Andrews and DID NOT ALLOW ANY ENTRANCE to ANYONE seeking to help Juan. Senator Smith was refused ENTRANCE TO THE GATE AT ANDREWS not once.........BUT TWICE.
I called the AFB...talked to an operator...incensed, finally asked her where she was, and she TOLD ME SHE WAS IN THE BASEMENT OF THE DOJ.
I WAS INFURIATED!
So, how do we know Juan ever formally asked for asylum (he HAD to know his captors here in the USA who were using his presence as a way to tell America that this 'loving father' was here to collect his son...OH GAG ME.)
Juan had to know he was trapped....Castro would have never released him to come here...were there even the slightest chance Juan could defect. That means one thing...clinton and craig (who paraded Elian around like a human prize) and reno had made a great big fat deal with Castro.
Sheer evil.
News reports that the people in the death trap (Superdome) are being evacuated to Houston's Astrodome.
Sheer evil, yes, I would agree with that assessment of Clinton. There was something about him that made my flesh crawl everytime I saw his face, whether on TV or in a picture.
Just got an email from a friend at church. Another friend's son was supposed to start med school at Tulane. They made it out and are with his wife's parents in Mississippi. They're safe, but they lost everything.
I've been trying to figure out a tangible way I could help. Now I know.
I don't blame you about the water. That's pretty scary.
Time to get back to the surreal world. Lunchtime, music, math, spelling, taekwondo.
