Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm pretty sure Rush's place is on Palm Beach itself, which is a barrier island. He lives there with all the super wealthy types, the Kennedys, Jimmy Buffet, etc.
IIRC, West Palm was actually founded so the folks who worked at Palm itself would have a place to live.
Anyhow, they will be on the strong side of whatever this turns out to be. Palm Beach is more at risk than West Palm, clearly.

PJ Comix used to live in Fort Liquordale, but haven't seen him around the storm threads.

Oh, that's right! I knew he was there somewhere. I do remember him making fun of Palm Beach County during the aftermath of the 2000 elections.

Have you decided on curriculum for this year? I bought a literature curriculum for Clare called "Literary Lessons from The Lord of the Rings". It's designed for high schools, but the author said that she'd been approached by some Community college professors about including it in their classes. I sat in on a workshop/presentation by the author, Amelia Harper, at the homeschool conference this past July in Boxboro MA. It looks like a great program, and Clare is looking forward to reading the trilogy again.

Checking in.....my area of the state should just get a little wind and a couple inches of rain. Well, don't plan the party just yet. That's what they told us about Gaston last year when we got about 10 inches in about 6 hours.
Just stay safe and as dry as possible.

Yes, a big generator.Well that sucks!
To: SuziQ
I WANT THAT!!!! LOL - can that be found on Amazon?
I am definitely going for the WTM - right now we are limited in our materials because the usual slump in finances about this time of year prevents me from buying all the books I need. I SHOULD have been buying them during the summer, but...well, can't ever accuse me of being well organized. Organized, yes. WELL organized...that's another matter...
But its the WTM and hope to include Triviuum stuff as well. She took her first Latin class today (Latina Christiana) - is really enjoying it. Hubby is even getting into it!!

Back from the interview and a stop at the store. Not sure how the interview went... I guess we just wait and see, now.

Yeah, I remember that Charlie's last minute intensification and left turn were something of a surprise to the people in Chalotte Harbor last July. You can never trust these things to follow predictions.
Shuttered the west side of the house, where I think the breeze will come from tonight.

Speaking of interviews, time for me ta do another Prayer Brigade ping.
Finally got a call about da-job-I-really-really-want. Interview will be at 1300 hours local time on Monday - one o'clock. ;-) I'm glad I've got a time and date! Hope I picked a good time slot...they were going to interview someone in the morning, and another group on Thursday. So...I expect it'll be awhile before a decision is made. *sigh* Still...if I get it, I get it, and this waiting won't seem nearly so horrid in retrospect.
