Man faces trial on charges he shot wife over dirty dishes Thursday, August 11, 2005
The Associated Press
WAYNESBURG -- A man charged with shooting his 17-year-old wife after an argument over dirty dishes was ordered to stand trial on criminal homicide and other charges.
At a preliminary hearing yesterday, state police said James Russell Petrie, 27, of Richhill Township, told them he was watching "Dr. Phil" on television when his wife came downstairs July 7 and also started watching the show.
Petrie said he asked his wife, Jessica, why there were still dirty dishes in the sink. She told him she would "get to them," angering her husband who felt he was being ignored, police said.
That's when Petrie took a .22-caliber gun and shot his wife in the head, police said.
Petrie at first told investigators he checked to make sure the gun wasn't loaded, but later acknowledged that he hadn't checked the gun before pulling the trigger, police said.
Jessica Petrie died about 10 hours later at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
No time, I do the cooking too.
I've only known of one real person named Cletus, but he sure fit the stereotype. Many years ago, I was a manager for a fast food chain, and briefly had an employee who was an 18-19 year old girl, married to a worthless unemployed drunk who was several years older (and threatened to kill her if she left him). Due to lack of money, they were living in a shed in one their relatives' back yard -- without heat in the winter, in Northern Virginia. And the deadbeat husband's name was Cletus.
LMAO! i am originally from Westmoreland co., know the area and that comment is LOL funny!
pittsburgh ping. this is the kind of story that has people saying we are a suburb of WV....

I knew a 'Hermel'....raised 6 kids in a 10 x 40 trailer home.
Worked 4 days a week in the steel mills in Gary, stayed incoherently drunk the other 3. But he'd have given someone the dirty shirt right off his back, if they needed it.
You do have that backwards of course. We're the Capital City of all of Appalchia. :-)

Now he can have all the clean dishes that he wants and them some. :):):)
HUSH! don't you dare admit that out in the public like that!! ; )
Poor guy. I guess he couldn't convince the judge that this was just a case of innocent homicide.
I fish where Cherry Run Meets Crooked creek (3 mi. from Kittanning). Like the deliverance back there! Hehehehe
We have been eating out of paper plates for a week, and if I have my way, we'll still be eating out of them a month from now. I'm through with washing dishes for the time being.
I have never been incarcerated either, but I was a NJ State Correction's Officer. (prison guard)
Same thing. :):):)
(except you get to home when your shift is over)
Thats true!!
PC is not practiced. I have probably A) Been called it all, B)Heard it all or C)Said it all.
Thus I am not easily offended, or shocked by the "F" bomb.
I love the "F" bomb ~ been using it for years. I think it's the hard "K"! :)
