Television talk show host and actress Rosie O'Donnell will return to Broadway in September in a production of "Fiddler on the Roof," the show's producers said on Monday.
O'Donnell will star opposite actor and playwright Harvey Fierstein in the musical running at the Minskoff Theater in Manhattan. Fierstein who is playing Tevye, a milkman, will be joined by O'Donnell as his wife Golde, according to a statement.
"As a twenty year friend of Rosie's, I couldn't be happier that we will finally share a stage together," Fierstein said in the statement.
A previous O'Donnell Broadway venture, "Taboo," which she produced, struggled at the box office and closed in 2004 after a three-month run. The musical was about the career of 1980s British pop star Boy George, who co-starred in it, although not in the lead role.
Fierstein is best known for his award winning "Torch Song Trilogy," three one act plays exploring the lives of gay men.
For six years, O'Donnell was the host and executive producer of talk program "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and has appeared in several TV series and movies.
Now, I am going to spend the rest of my day composing *updated* lyrics:
A Diddler on the Hoof.
The West Village (Anatevka)
If I Were a Butch Man
I hear she's going to play Anatevka. Should be the perfect role for her.
Actually, 2 gays. I think Fierstein is gay as well.

Harvey Fierstein and Rosie O'Donnell in FIDDLER as Tevye and his wife? Gag me with a spoon!
Everybody sing along!
If I was a fat dyke
be-de-be-de-bum...
Gee a an overweight homosexual woman on stage. Not exactly a romantic "date" evening material for theater.
Why would anyone want to see anything with her anymore?
"A gay Fiddler on the Roof?"
Actually, the only thing new here is that Rosie will be joining the cast. Harvey Fierstein has been playing Tevye for about a year and a half now.
A homosexual man being married to a homosexual woman.
TA-DA! see homosexuals can get married!
(/s)
It is stale. It is just not stale among the homosexual crowd.
Essentially this will the the "gay" fidler production now.
It will attract the same mainstream people as other "gay" movies or productions.
That's Broadway!
That's Broadway!
Rosie's last (bomb) Broadway effort, "Taboo" (with Boy George).
Who's on top?
Diddler on the Roof?
I'm thinking she read the title as "Diddler On The Roof"
Harvey and Rosie together on Broadway. What next? Shakespeare? Fellatio, Fellatio where for art thou.....?
