MIRAMAR, Fla. -- A man was arrested on charges of killing his son's 2-month-old black Labrador puppy by throwing it five stories to the ground after it urinated and defecated inside their apartment.
Josper Sanon, 49, took the dog and flung it 25 feet through the air off their fifth-floor balcony, the arrest warrant said.
A police officer found Sanon's 16-year-old son Steve screaming and crying in the parking lot of their apartment.
Josper Sanon was arrested on charges of cruel death, pain and suffering of an animal, a third-degree felony. He was being held on $2,500 bail.
He faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
Miramar police spokesman Bill Robertson said the fact that the dog was found 25 feet from the balcony shows the animal was thrown and did not accidentally fall.

Hahahaha! You (and Balto) just made my day. And the thing is, as I'm certain you realize, dogs know these things about people.
This brutal act could be the straw that broke the camel's back, in the mind of that sixteen year old boy. After this brutality, there's no going back to a "normal" family relationship.
That animal could have been the boy's one link to love. He certainly couldn't have been experiencing it from his Dad.
The law is correct in stepping in to stop this type of animal brutality. Hang the perp high!
The puppy was not a long time family pet. It was a puppy, probably been there 2-3 days. That is a far cry for a long term family pet.
I have had "pet" friendship ( again your are humanizing ). I have had two great dogs ( labs ) and one roping horse better than any dog could ever be. All are gone now. I was sad at their passing, but I did not dwell I got another dog and started training another roping horse.
Before Balto bites, you might warn him/her that I might kick or shoot first.
It's not a wonder the kid reacted as he did, he probably finally found someone to love him which is more than he's probably gotten from this sick bas*ard.
I have three German Shepherds waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge, plus a slew of parakeets. Each animal, big or small, is a bundle of love and a gift from the Lord.
Right on the money. You find someone's weakness and you use it to control them. Or you destroy anything they love as a way to break their spirit.
It can go two ways. Either they shut down so the enemy (parent/spouse/whatever) can't read their feelings OR they become an emotional basket case. Either way, they're screwed. Just like this kid.
However, you mentioned something about the boy's "extended mourning" when the story makes no mention at all of the cause of his "screaming and crying" (whether it be pent-up anger or mourning or anything else).
At any rate, I'm left wondering whether your comment indicates there could have been justification for this 16-year-old boy to be screaming and crying when the police arrived. Something not mentioned in the story.
Maybe the kid has seen his Dad beat the sh** out of Mom for sixteen years. Maybe Dad chased the kid around, swinging a belt, for sixteen years. Maybe Dad demands that everyone cater to his needs and that nothing go wrong to upset His Highness, or he will erupt in rage.
Puppy poops on carpet, Dad isn't having none o' that, he's pi**ed at the world and he's gonna show that dog who's boss. Nothin' is gonna spoil HIS day, by damn.

Your callous faux macho response to an act of cruelty reveals you to be not so far from the perpetrator. Acknowledging the difference in objective value between human beings and animals stops doesn't have to siphon out fundamental compassion, which you seem so proud of having excised from your children.
And when they break someone's spirit, they feel so strong and in control, better than the person who've they've hurt so badly. They have power. They feel good. They've shown that person not to talk back or challenge them.
This is my point. If you read my original post you will see I said the kid has issues. I did not claim to know what they are ( probably dad ), but he has them.
I was not commenting that dad was a good citizen I condemn what he did, I merely said the kid has issues and those should be addressed rather than focus on the puppy. Punish dad and help kids, move on.
