The Red Sox just announced that the next time Manny Ramirez doesn't run out a fly ball, they will make him a "recess appointment" to the waiver list..again...Amazing week, fellow BB fans..nothing much happened...why?

Sorry. The 2003 Sox had the same sh!tty bullpen woes.

And, I would be mad at Minaya. He should have at least gotten Eyre or Wickman or someone at the deadline when the Manny deal fell through.

Not beyond the World Series (and rooting against the Yankees, as I recall).
I'm gearing up to tutor her in football.

Sorry, Ken. :-(
Damn, the Yankees have just pulled ahead of the Cleveland Indians (listening on WCBS radio & following MLB gameday).
I see our former Red Sox loser pitcher Alan Embree did some damage to the Yanks in the sixth or seventh inning. He got one out, gave up a run and gave up a walk. His ERA is still something like 7.98. LOL, last week on WCBS - according to the conversation I heard between John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman - they pretty much expected that Embree was going to be the "savior" of the Yankees bullpen.
Congratulations to Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek on his first career grand slam this afternoon! :o)

Even facing a five run deficit I knew the Sox would come back against that lousy KC pitching.

Rules of baseball question for the group.....
A batter has a two count on him. Pitcher throws the ball, a curve in on the batter, who tries to check his swing, but fails..he goes through. The home plate ump punches him out as the ball hits the batter. Is it a strikeout, or HBP, and the batter gets first base?

I would think strike three because it's all about the first action. You can cause a person to get strike 1 and strike 2 by aiming the ball at their bat which is located on the batter's shoulder more than a foot out of the strike zone and without a swing by the batter. It happened to a Red Sox player this year. Craziest thing-- turned a WP into a strike for the opposing pitcher.

He has more range than Bellhorn and he at least will have a productive out. I can't imagine why Francona would put him back in the starting lineup once he gets back from Pawtucket (Although he probably will). Graffanino's BA is about 80 points higher than Bellhorn's, and I don't see him K nearly as much. Once game recently in Pawtucket, Bellhorn went 0-5 with 2 K's- in AAA baseball!
I'm also hoping Schilling will stay in his closer role for the rest of the regular season. He should be used as a starter in the postseason if the Sox make it, but I would, assuming the rest of the rotation remains problem-free, much rather see a suddenly very reliable Schilling over a questionable Foukle any day. Who knows how he might be after recovering from knee surgery.

I wonder if Bellhorn has vision problems. In any event, with his lousy record, I hope we never see him in the Boston Red Sox lineup again...

Are you watching this nightmare of a game tonight? (Twins vs Red Sox) Looks like our guys got awfully lazy playing the lousy KC Royals over the past three days.
Damn... Yankees beating Toronto 5-1... :-(

To: mainepatsfan; GraniteStateConservative; Dutchy
Yeah, I guess so... and this is a REALLY bad night. The only thing that saves it for me is the funny banter between NESN's RemDawg and Don Orsillo over that stupid Chevy Cobalt. ;-D
Oh great... another base hit for the Twins. As "Angry Bill" said in Still, We Believe: "This game is OVA!"
