The Red Sox just announced that the next time Manny Ramirez doesn't run out a fly ball, they will make him a "recess appointment" to the waiver list..again...Amazing week, fellow BB fans..nothing much happened...why?
He keeps getting stronger. He'll be back in the rotation before too long.
He has more range than Bellhorn and he at least will have a productive out.
Another spike was hammered into the heart of baseball traditions today.
The Cardinals announced that they were abandoning KMOX for KTRS after 52 years on that station. As part of the deal, the Cards will own 1/2 of KTRS.
I am so pissed I could kick the dog.
It will be so different next year with the new stadium and KTRS radio.
I got my first baseball fix listening to the Cards with my Dad on the radio in Tulsa in the 50's. This sux the big green one. I was 6 years old when they started on KMOX. KMOX is a 'clear' station, meaning that they kick up to 50k watts after sundown. I have listened to the Cards all over the US on KMOX after sundown, now it won't be possible.
Satellite radio means that won't be as important in a few years...I'd wager that within 5 years, if you're on vacation on safari in Keyna, you'll be able to listen to the broadcast of your Cards' games..
Braden Looper really, REALLY Sucks Big Time!!!
OK..now to the commentary...last night's Mets game really hurt..Benson MUST win today, and the Mets have to win the next series against the Cubs..otherwise it's over for them...OTOH...Mankiewicz is really hitting of late..could Beltran please, PRETTY please.. do the same..
Yankees' season will be over by next Wednesday. Last night was a devastating loss for them..(YIPPEE!!) Their two MUST win pitchers, Moose and the medium sized UNIT, aren't.. Today, they lose again, and then they go to Toronto for three..and the the Chisox..so, I make it 2-5 over their next 7 games...and they'll be in 4th place in the wildcard..and finito..
Lastly, this is for one of the reallly good guys here, Petronski
How 'bout them Indians!!!!
I am resistant to satellite radio. I grew up not having to pay to listen to the radio (other than commercials).
It isn't the fact that I won't be able to hear the games, its the passing of an era, pushed by the money grab that saddens me.
Thank you for the kind words.
The Tribe looked great last night. Once more with the Yankees, then it's on to the gooey center of a soft August schedule.
The MFYs lost last night, it was such a joy to watch!
4 games up in the loss column!
I was looking at the Tribe's schedule last night..it is mushy...problem is the A's look really good, and their rotation is awesome..may be too big an obstacle...ESPN had the game last night..I was watching all three, includsing Yankees and Mets..gotta love remote AND pic in pic..for whatever reason, they spent a lot of time focusing on the guy with the drum..and his wife..telling some really funny stories..I didn't know they made him buy a seat for the drum...but I do want to know who the hell would buy the seats NEXT to him?...
Graff has been great. He actually was great for the Royals, but is hitting even better for us with more protection. I have no idea why we got him for so little. Ambres has played well in the bigs, but no one truly knew that would be the case.
Even Millar has an OPS of .916, since the ASB. So, he's been playing well. Better than AL guys who are given more love like Stairs, Morneau, Teixeira, and Sweeney.
Looper just had a bad game. He's actually pitched ok recently. 2 wins, 4 saves, and a 2.77 ERA in the past month. You're only 5 games back of Houston for the WC.
I'm not willing to count out the Yankees, but I will say they will be on the putting greens unless they overtake us. The WC will go to an AL West team.
Is Cyborg a baseball fan?
Thnaks for trying to cheer me up, tough..tis appreciated....and the you CAN count the MFYs out...it's over..
Well, just looking at his season, he's been pitching better recently. More strikeouts per outing on average, for example.
I would, TOMORROW put Heilman in the closer's spot..BTW I can't understand why Minaya didn't make a move..MEets have one of the strongest top to bottom rotations in all of baseball.. Benson ahs arguable been putching better than Pedro..at least his equal. You have Seo in the minors, Heilman in the bullpen..Glavine and Zambrano workmanlike..Trachsel about to return, Ischi sometimes looking good.. there was a solid basis to do SOMETHING there..but I think he ghad to keep his options open in case he needed to sweeten the pot for the Manny deal..
He should have had a trade in place to pull off once it was clear that Boston needed more production in return to trade Manny.
Can someone tell me how this awful Royals team swept the $200M Yankees? I know little league teams that play more fundamentally sound baseball. We send out a beaned pitcher and he gets expectedly rocked and they still can't keep their big lead. I just had no idea they were this awful. Bud Selig should just shut this team down. It's an embarrassment to baseball.
Piazza has 5 Ribbies today..
He's not dead, yet, I guess.
Bad outing from Benson, but the bats picked him up.
