Come on, DD, honestly: how many times have you ever been attracted to a timid, respectful man? That kind of wuss behavior sets off every psychobiological alarm in a woman's nervous system. Women are attracted to self-confident, daring, amusingly cocky men who promise to offer them new and interesting experiences and seem strong enough to defend her and her children from harm. The empirical evidence of this is overwhelming.Thank you for making my point clearly. Mr. Jeeves, Have you read David DeAngelo on this very subject?
Anyway, like you said, women cannot help the way they feel when they are attracted to arrogant jerk who would seem strong enough to protect the woman and her children.
It's not natural for women to be attracted to timid but sweet men because they would not summon the courage to protect the women they love. Think about it.

Well, we girls need one at least, as the guys have their colognes that they use for both female attraction AND deoderant. :-O As I'm sure you are aware, men can't get away with that for more than about an hour. ;)

I've got one eye on a C# program tonight, and my usual eloquence is eluding me. Heh. I have some research code (C and Python) in another window that I'm hacking on this evening for my own amusement, primarily to avoid dreadfully tedious business writing for the same company (my latest startup). I prefer to get my hands dirty. It sounds like yours is more "work" work though.

Have you read David DeAngelo on this very subject? Yep. I like David D. and think he's mostly right on - the big problem with his material is that it requires men who aren't already outgoing and personable to make a very deep personal change - the difficulty of which he sometimes doesn't seem to fully acknowledge. If you've been programmed with this negative stuff since you were five years old, "Get it done, wussbag!" isn't exactly helpful advice...LOL!
For men who are already extroverted and just haven't been treating women with the same openness they threat their friends, David D.'s material is great - only minor tweaking to one's approach to the world is required to use it successfully.

I do have them as friends - but I'm better than that. I wouldn't DATE an arrogant jerk for all the testosterone in the NFL.I believe you. Ok, not all women are attracted to arrogant jerks.
But do you remember in high school that your friends tended to date confident guys who were on the football team? Okay, now tell me why they didn't date someone like, let's say Bill Gates? Be honest with me.
Certainly, it's safe to say that he did not date any girls in high school. (or at Harvard for that matter)

I HAVE NEVER BEEN ATTRACKED TO AN ARROGANT JERK!!! You probably have, it's just that because you were attracted to him, you didn't see him as an arrogant jerk (but I'll bet some of your male friends did.)

Bill didn't leave the garage long enough to meet girls.
Start to look at what type of women you are attracted to and what types are attracted to you. See if you can move those two points closer together.

Okay, now tell me why they didn't date someone like, let's say Bill Gates? Haven't you noticed how all those romance novels are loaded with leading men like Bill Gates? Timid, shy, respectful heroes who let the heroine do whatever she wants? LOL!

You'd be surprised. One of my best friends is an arrogant jerk. I love him. He's a great friend. I wouldn't date him because he doesn't value women enough for me.

Heh. I have some research code (C and Python) in another window that I'm hacking on this evening for my own amusement Java and Objective-C here for a contract gig. I keep hearing good things about Python, I'll try it for my next personal project.
DD, glad to hear there are women like you out there, but it seems you're a minority. From my experience the desire for alpha-male qualities (or appearance of them) is genetically hard-wired, which does make sense from an evolutionary standpoint.
