I am producing an independent action Western movie to be shot in high definition digital video.
It is to be movie based upon a true event that happened just two years after the Civil War.
We are in pre-production and have assembled a fine cast of talented folks already rehearsing in the Nashville TN area.
We are not Hollywood people but really we want to make a good Western and have enlisted a lot of help to do it.
The principal action sequences will be shot on location on a remote ranch in southeast Idaho and at a frontier fort replica in Texas.
This movie is based on an event that took place on the Bozeman Trail in 1867.
WE ARE STILL SEEKING THE LEADING MAN FOR THIS MOVIE.
We are looking for a man in his late twenties or early thirties to be the leading man. The character was a real person.
The character had been a young captain (federal) during the Civil War but was, at the time of our story, a civilian who rose and took charge of a band of men in one of the greatest stand-off fights in the history of the American West. He led a day-long defense of 24 men against a thousand Lakota (Sioux) warriors in a relentless fight. All but three defenders survived in a miracle of courage and tenacity, not to mention marksmanship.
The person we seek may be an extraordinary Civil War reenactor. He may be a working cowboy on a ranch. He may be a military veteran who has natural leadership charisma and the respect of his unit. This natural leadership trait cannot be faked.
We cannot make this movie without the right man.
This is not a documentary but an action movie with drama and romance.
Basic horsemanship will be required.
This is a romantic role for the leading man so this young man must not be shy about kissing our very pretty leading young lady.
This is a paid role in an independent movie.
We are looking for acting talent but the man we seek may never have used his latent acting talent in formal theater or film work so we are not requiring prior professional acting experience.
We are looking for a young man who realistically looks like a man of the frontier, not some Hollywood sissy boy.
We have a script widely acknowledged as excellent.
This will be a rare opportunity for an unknown man with talent to have a real shot as a leading man in a movie.
Our intent is to shoot this Western in the finest tradition of the John Ford-directed Westerns of the past.
If you know of a person who might be right for this role, please contact me by FReep mail first and I will get in touch with you and provide my e-mail address.
I'd like to see a snapshot photograph first (facial close-up). I welcome e-mailed photos or they may be mailed to me at an address I will provide. Please include name and contact information if submitting an actor photo.
I will provide a copy of the complete script to those in whom we have serious interest in reading for the part.
Auditions will be in the Nashville TN area.
Thanks, NCLA
Is that the Wagon Box Fight?
This story is of "The Hayfield Fight" - one day earlier, August 1, 1867 - ninety miles northwest of the Wagon Box Fight. It was three miles from Fort C.F. Smith. The Wagon Box Fight happened on August 2, 1867, within a short distance of Fort Phil Kearny, another fort on the Bozeman Trail.
Other than the kissin' the girl part, I'm pretty much doomed. Of course if Mrs. Slim finds out, I'm really doomed.
I nominate Slim, with the proviso that I get to be the stunt double for the bordello scenes.
Nope.
Basic horsemanship will be required.
Yep.
This is a romantic role for the leading man so this young man must not be shy about kissing our very pretty leading young lady.
I know how to do that.
We are looking for a ... man who realistically looks like a man of the frontier, not some Hollywood sissy boy.
Yep.
we sincerely ask for your help to discover a new talent from within the ranks of our young MANLY men.
Manly, yes. Young, no.
Oh, well. Maybe next time.
I don't think he filming a remake of this classic.
Apropos of nothing.
Wow.....are you a member of the Bozeman Trails Assn? I was for years.
