Last night, many of us read the thread wherein Petronski announced his coming marriage to madame Cyborg. (Check DRUDGE: Unnamed Senior White House source: Cyborg and Petronski to be married...). During the course of the Cyborg-Petronski Thread, the subject of a Free Republic feature wherein single Freepers can meet their fellow conservatives.
I have a simple proposition. We could start a regular thread akin to the Freeper Canteen. Such a regular thread could serve as an opportunity for single Freepers to engage in Virtual Mingling. Also, any Freepers who have single, conservative offspring would be welcome to participate so as to arrange for introductions for their kids.
Special note to Jim: Just think of how many conservative would not have met fellow right-minded folks had it not been for FR! Cyborg and Petronski owe you one.

Jim Robinson is open to the idea so long as it does not cause problems. I agree completely with him. It is his site and we are his guests. That means that we will have to reign-in one another if things get out of hand.
The core idea is that it will be a place where single FReepers can meet fellow single conservatives and do what FReepers do best: enlighten, entertain, and encourage.
The deal was actually that I chose that day to put a picture of myself on my profile page and everybody had to take a few minutes to gawk at that fine looking young man. (don't bother going to my page, it was asked that I take it off lest I crash the server)

The only problem I forsee are the certain people-types that will get offended when someone doesn't respond to them, or the expectation that every available person of the opposite sex is going to automatically want to talk to them.
As long as it's understood that this is, as has been said before, "Virtual Mingling," and NOT a guaranteed dating service, I think we'll be okay. It's just like every other thread -- no one is under any obligation to respond to anyone.

First: chill. You had a chat last night and that was that. I am not privey to the content of the exchange, but odds are that it was light. Do not "latch-on" quickly. Relax, breathe, and take it easy.
Second: When a female is interested, she has way of letting you know.
Third: NEVER come-on too strong. That applies to both men and women.
I am sure that others will provide advice, but this is just my two cents worth.

I am one of those who may not respond immediately to a post. I have a life, sort of. I usually Freep while studying. That means that I respond when ever I look-up from a book to click "Refresh" and see if I have any FReepmail or comments. Also, I eat, sleep, run errands, attend class, and work. It could be minutes or hours before I reply.
How far along are you in your Ph.D.? After I get my master's, I'll be going for one, too. It's a long, hard road!
I have about a year remaining. I take my comps in three months and I am ABD after that.

After that, I might get an M.B.A. before pursuing the Ph.D.
