In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.
The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. Im just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words as if can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy! I'll be getting it on its first day out. Thank you so much, Vastie. Did I give you an A++++ today? Well, you've gotten one because you made me so happy. Talk about blood and guts . . .
Dutchgirl (briefly) considers changing her tag line.
He's a writing and a writing lately, isn't he?
That is a funny story.
Yes, and I found some of his early and obscure novels (some under pseudonyms) via a search at Amazon.com. Some of them are fetching $150 to $300 for first editions.
Someone posted it over on TheGangGreen.com.
Zowies! He lives Newport Beach, CA, with his wife Gilda and his dog (forgot the dog's name). I never saw him there, although his looks are good, but nondescript. My mom and older sister went to one of his signings of his books early on, I think it was Kujo, and had their photos taken with him. Still have them.
u r such a putz
Anything beyond that is beyond his capability.
OOPS! Cujo was written by Stephen King, not Koontz.
My Top Five Koontz Books - not necessarily in order - would be:
The Watchers
Cold Fire
Lightning
Dark Rivers of the Heart
Mr. Murder
There are so many good ones it is hard to pick a top five, because you have to leave off some really enjoyable books like "Ticktock", "Dragon Tears", "By the Light of the Moon", "One Door Away from Heaven", etc.
I've got to share this story from the Delaware paper - I'm just dying over it.....chill out SG.......LOL!!!
Angry developer demolishes buildings
I can't believe he did it. The city and the Historic groups have been giving him so much grief for so long. Both coolbreeze and I have been saying for years he should just raze the buildings....and now he has and he's in a heap of trouble and it doesn't seem that he cares.
This man has done so much to revitalize the downtown area of Dover, he has worked with one of the colleges and the city to build new dormitories that fit in with the rest of the local architecture, he has built assisted living centers for lower income elderly........the man has done wonderful things for the entire city and the county.....yet the petty tyrants are never satisfied.
In the final paragraph of the article he comments about leaving only one of the 4 buildings standing, as it is the only viable building on the block.....he's right it was the only usable building - an it is also the law offices of his business partners :)
I need to drop a note in the mail to him. Someone finally stood up to the powers that be in Dover and they are freaking out.
ON that note - I must say ciao, a friend is on her way over with her kids, after picking up my kid and we're going to sit outside while the girls play in the pool. Actually the girls are going to be helping drain the pool because where hubby put it, is not as level as he thought it was, so it is going to have to be moved, but must be emptied first.
Later Gators!!!!!!!!
He wrote nights and weekends, which he continued to do after leaving the poverty program and going to work as an English teacher in a suburban school district outside Harrisburg. After a year and a half in that position, his wife, Gerda, made him an offer he couldn't refuse: "I'll support you for five years," she said, "and if you can't make it as a writer in that time, you'll never make it." By the end of those five years, Gerda had quit her job to run the business end of her husband's writing career. Dean and Gerda Koontz along with their dog, Trixie, live in southern California.
Bye!
Great story. Gerda/Gilda. I knew it was a hard G name. I should have remembered Trixie. LOL! They do live in Newport Beach, but up on a hill with luxurious homes and fabulous views. I knew this years ago, so they may have moved again. Who knows. It was near Fashion Island. It's not a real island, but an oudoors mall that is surrounded by office buildings, and the Fire Department where I picked up the German Shepherd, Scooby.
We just adopted a Golden Retriever from the pound. He has "hot spots" on both his back legs, so it will take some medication and treatment to get his skin and coat healthy. But he is a really good dog and he loves our boys. He is also due for a trip to the vet to get tutored soon.
You're getting him tutored at the vet? LOL!
Congratulations on your new addition to the family. I do so love dogs.
They were HUGE when we adopted him. They're getting better now. His coat had become so matted that when we had him groomed last week all they could do was shave his coat except for his head and the end of his tail. (He looks kind of like a dog/lion right now.) He's a lot of fun -- he's probably just a little over a year old and he's just a great big puppy -- very playful.
