Zowies! He lives Newport Beach, CA, with his wife Gilda and his dog (forgot the dog's name). I never saw him there, although his looks are good, but nondescript. My mom and older sister went to one of his signings of his books early on, I think it was Kujo, and had their photos taken with him. Still have them.

I think it was Kujo,

OOPS! Cujo was written by Stephen King, not Koontz.

My Top Five Koontz Books - not necessarily in order - would be:
The Watchers
Cold Fire
Lightning
Dark Rivers of the Heart
Mr. Murder

There are so many good ones it is hard to pick a top five, because you have to leave off some really enjoyable books like "Ticktock", "Dragon Tears", "By the Light of the Moon", "One Door Away from Heaven", etc.

From The Official Dean Koontz Website:

He wrote nights and weekends, which he continued to do after leaving the poverty program and going to work as an English teacher in a suburban school district outside Harrisburg. After a year and a half in that position, his wife, Gerda, made him an offer he couldn't refuse: "I'll support you for five years," she said, "and if you can't make it as a writer in that time, you'll never make it." By the end of those five years, Gerda had quit her job to run the business end of her husband's writing career. Dean and Gerda Koontz along with their dog, Trixie, live in southern California.
