Wealthy men have richer sex lives
theaustralian ^ | July 18, 2005 | Mark Henderson

HIGH earners of both genders boast an increased libido over their poorer colleagues, but only the wealthy men end up having more sex.

As their incomes rise, men and women are more likely to have a higher sex drive, according to a study of almost 30,000 people from 170 countries - the largest survey of its kind.

The findings, from an online survey conducted by the BBC, offer fresh evidence for the theory that women tend to be more attracted to men with money and resources, but that a woman's wealth does not much affect her sex appeal to men.

"Men accumulate resources, which they use to attract women," said John Manning, professor of psychology at the University of Central Lancashire, who analysed the results.

"When it comes to men with little by way of resources, women are just not interested in them at all. As a man's earning power goes up, you would expect him to be having more sex and be with more sexual partners." Feminine charms were little enhanced by income because men paid more attention to other qualities, such as looks, Professor Manning said.

The only blessing in all this for the man is that he wants sex less as time goes on, so he is less frustrated.

I agree with everything you wrote, except this. I think if a wife treated her husband sexually like she treated him while dating or in the first year of marriage, the man would want it until he died of old age.

I remember being a teenager and my 20's. Girls wanted it bad and acted like it. I am sure those same girls rarely give it up to their husbands.

How does a redneck practice safe sex?
He only brands the sheep that kick.

Two women I know, one stays at home with 3 small children and no outside help. Her husbands comes hoem and she says he is constantly depressed that she doesnt have energy or interest in sex.

The other woman I know is also stay at home and has four children and a nanny and housekeeper. She is the one always wearing her husband out and jumping him when he gets home.

Now there's an interesting conundrum; I've been pondering it the last couple of days.

I've changed; I no longer drive like a maniac, drink like a fish, or do anything that would jeopardize my kids' future; Mr. Legs, although he is a good father, does everything exactly as if he had nothing special to live for. Have any theories?

Actually, MM, I agree with you. A steadily employed man with less than $50 thousand in savings in one form or the other these days, would be a poor choice for any lady with serious thoughts for a future and family with this man.

Anyhow that is the opinion of this old Grandpa of a few young single ladies.

Does Mr. Long(but anything but elegant)Legs, have an insurance policy that would continue his family in the life style he has provided, should he not be there? If so, he is thoughtful in some ways but irresponsaible in others.

He needs to be made aware of the fact that his presence is far more essential to the happiness of his family than anything else.

Its not that he doesn't think he has nothing to live for. He is who he is.

Everyone matures i.e. drinks less, fewer barroom brawls, quits drag racing at 2 am. on Saturdays.

When I met my wife I told her that who I was was who I was, and if that bugged her then she might need to look elsewhere. I didn't say it to be mean but I wanted her to know that the guy she met is the guy shes gonna get.

I think women have the idea in their head of what the perfect marriage is and thats what they try to achieve. I think men hate that idea and just want peace in their family and to not be nagged to death.

I think women want to be treated like a queen, a princess, a scholar and a daughter and they want to be treated according to the mood they are in. Men generally don't want the hassle of a fight so they oblige. If a man truly respected his wife he would treat her like he would treat a man.

I guess we could call him ShortStumpyLegs! :-)
He has a life insurance policy, a steady job, etc. He's a good provider, so I'm not complaining! But I was speaking with a girlfriend a few days ago about how to get men to change, and I realized that they can't be changed, at least not by their women. But I think of how different I have become in just four years of marriage, and I wonder why not? Is it some deep rooted, animalistic thing, risk-taking instincts, perhaps?
What purpose does it serve? In theory, we were much better suited before we had kids; We were partiers, probably alcoholics; We drove a tiny little sports car the first year of our marriage; We were both Marines, that ought to say something about our recklessness! :-)
I've become more maternal than I ever dreamed possible, while he remains pretty much the same. I love him dearly and I won't force him to change, but I do wonder why the responsibilities we have now don't seem to affect him like they affect me.
Your thoughts, as someone who has been through it before?

I don't think women respect the fact that their husbands work all day, deal with a-holes part of the day, constantly worry about bills and if their family is happy and still want to come home and get some from their wife. Thats probably why so many men drink.

Men don't need their wives to dress up or wear garter belts and stuff. Thats really for the woman to make her feel sexy. Men just need a braless wife in a t-shirt and panties. I believe to most men romance to get sex feels incredibly phony. Sure there are romantic evenings where lovemaking is just that, but we don't live in romance novels. Men also need fulfillment.

It seems like all women change after marriage; I'd like to think it's biological.
It might be that you're right, that he's simply the man he's always been; I guess that would mean that it's my responsibility to try to understand and accept it. I try to. But I still wonder why...

My theory. You were attracted to the tough wild Marine because he was just that. Now you want him to be tough only when you need him to be tough, maybe when defending your honor but to put that side on a shelf the rest of the time. Believe me, if you have sons they love the tough Dad and want to be like him.

It reminds me of my sister in law, who while watching Gladiator asked me "what ever happened to men like that?"

I responded with "You couldn't handle a man like that. This guy has been gone for two years leaving you at the farm to raise his son. You would be writing him a letter complaining how 'Your son needs a father and I need a husband'."

Remember he may be wondering what happened to you but decided to just accept it.

Ouch. Food for thought, though, so thank you. :)
In the interest of everyone's happiness tomorrow, I'm going to bed now...I'll check back to see if anyone's gotten flamed tomorrow!

I really thought that by this stage of my life I would know all the answers-Wrong!

I have learned that women are the only ones who can change a man, but he must be convinced that it was his idea.

You must convince ol' Short Stumpy hairy Legs, that even if he won the lottery and could depart this life without his familie's life style changing a whit financially-without him it would be a mere existance.

I have plenty to say, regarding this. However, to avoid being threatened physically, told I make all men look bad, called a misogynist, whiner, loser, prude, or other, hurtful things, I will once again plead the 5th amendment, as per our discussion on AK recently.

Instead, I will concentrate on things that I am involved with, like moving all of my roundies(BW and color), and other goodies from my old, rundown, leaky garage, and into my new storage facility, the upcoming CORA swapmeet, and other things I like doing, and will continue to comment on other threads, like the current event ones, but NOT on these personal ones, as I am tired of being being mercilessly pummeled, EVERY DA#N time I open my mouth!!!!!

Although I agree with you that its no fun getting "trampled" on when you post, if said with
respect, it shouldnt bother you what people think or
say. Its too bad you feel that you cant say what you
think. I am interested in what your perspective is.
btw: Ive posted on the religion threads and had have been
mercilessly pummeled! :o) Its the way of the world. LOL

This is BS. Why would a man treat a woman like a man? She isn't a man. I expect to be treated like a lady. If a man hates the idea of a marriage then don't get married. What's so hard about that?

I thought that most women want sexual intimacy throughout their lives at all ages, just because they like sex.

Women only like sex when they are in the middle of it. They always like intimacy and closeness except when they think it is just a trick to get them to have sex.

Cuddling and affection? Women are all for it. They love it, except when they think you are just doing it for sex.
