Before they saw the light? When was that? They were considered a Christian rock band back in the 80s.
FAITH + 1 FOREVER!
Would you believe that they still have "folk" masses? That stuff was old when the RC started using it in the mid-60s.
That should say "sarc" command.
Out my way we have what I refer to as the "Banjo Mass".
Contemporary worship is a part of the liturgy ushered in by John XXIII in Vatican II.
There actually are a good many rules regarding the music in the liturgy, so even when we're doing the more contemporary stuff it has to be vetted by our musical director to be certain that the musical liturgy is in the proper context with the Mass. Choir members don't get together and say "Hey, let's do that tune about Mary again. It sounded great last week"! The liturgical rules should be structured, even with contemporary Mass.
Unfortunately, while my parrish's liturgy is well maintained and scrutinized - and more traditional liturgies are also provided to counter the toe tapping - I am certain there are places where these details are swept aside for personal preference, either out of ignorance and, possibly, defiance.
No offense taken. I simply assumed you were of the belief that these guys had gained the label 'Christian rock band' at some mid-point in their career.
Ugh. Toby Mac is garbage. The sound, anyway..
Then yours is a ridiculous question. Find a Christian radio station. Listen to it. Go to a Christian music store. Browse the selction. Listen to sample CD's. Surf to a Christian music internet site. Listen to some audio samples. Etc.
This is not rocket science.
selection..
It was kind of neat to hear my non-Christian coworkers talking about POD being Christian. The group doesn't sound half bad either.
Here are a few popular bands:
Third Day ("Wire" is great and won a Grammy)
MercyMe
Casting Crowns
Jeremy Camp
Lifehouse
Switchfoot
P.O.D.
Skillet
I copy that and gather what you are saying; that these guys didn't burn-out like many hair metal bands, then come back with the Christian twist for the sake of convenience.
Thanks, that's good info.
Oh,...and that's a dang nice snare ya got there.
And you're looking for Christan music you say?
Thanks! :)
