THIS THREAD IS INTENDED FOR READERS THAT HAVE COMPLETED THE BOOK! If you have not yet read the book, consider yourself warned: There will be spoilers on this thread.
For my fellow FReepers who have no intention of reading the book but would like to discuss the more controversial issues related to the work, I am asking you as politely as I can: DO NOT HIJACK THIS THREAD. We are all members of this forum and as such, it is not up to me to disallow anyone from participating in the discussion. That is why I am asking you--please do not hijack this thread. If you would like to discuss the more controversial aspects of the book, maybe you could start your own thread and ping us over there. If we are interested, we'll come.
Oh, and I used to make the meat substitute seitan (pronounced SAY-tan), and my husband used to tease me unmercifully for trying to lead him to the dark side, LOL!
Do you remember in which of the books DD made the joke? When HP and the DA meet at the Hog's Head, the bartender looks vaguely familiar to Harry.
Not de ja vu. I actually am repeating myself.
That's it! You're goin ta hay-ell!!!
I just might change my tagline to piss off all those holier-than-thous who tell me I'm not a "true Christian" because I love the Potter books. How's this: I'm a Satan worshipper -- LET'S GO ISLANDERS! ;-)
I have missed hockey very much. I can't stand basketball (no offense!) and, once my Jets were eliminated, I lost interest in football. So this year, once the World Series is over (I'm one of those sick, twisted individuals who loves both the Mets and the Red Sox), I'll have more than just a weekly Jets game to keep me company.
Now, as to Dumbledore's brother being a bartender, I remember reading about that someplace, but can't remember where in the books it appears. No, I have not yet finished the re-read.
Even if I've repented and rejected seitan?
Even if! Hope ya like BBQ!
Sounds like a great tag! I don't usually watch basketball but I like seeing teams that play well, as opposed to watching teams with one or two hotshot players who blow it for their teammates. The Pistons don't have any real stars but together they play a great game. I REALLY enjoy watching the Tigers. They were so awful just two seasons ago. It has been fun watching the team improving.
I guess it's a good thing I do like BBQ. I'm a big fan of the Rendezvous in Memphis and the Bait Shack in New York. Yum!
Well, now I'm all set for pleasant dreams of torture and BBQ, LOL! Night to you both!
'Night all!
Regarding Aberforth, it was never explicitly stated in the books that he was the bartender at Hog's Head, but Rowling confirmed the guess during an interview.
See http://www.hp-lexicon.org/wizards/aberforth.html
I haven't a clue what that was supposed to be.
HEM! HEM!
I'M a Capricorn!
And I resemble that! ;o)
Shoes?
Hobbits?
NAH!
They don't go together well! LOL!
PHEW!
Nah! You're not a Yankees fan and even though you are not an Orioles fan either, you're still not going to that very hot place.
912, 913,914,915
I think I just funkled! :o)
I really did it!
They'd be proud of me at the Hobbit Hole thread LOL!
LOLOLOL! I gave up reading my horoscope after finding out that I'm reliable, hard-working, steady, practical, determined, and that ALL the words that applied to Capricorns could also probably apply to a pair of old (dull but comfy!) shoes. I was looking for something exciting and mysterious, but instead was informed that I'm actually pretty pedestrian. Ah well, it doesn't matter (much, really, my feelings aren't hurt, honest!).
Okay!
How did you like my Umbridge impersonation?
