This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
What you'll see in the video at first is Bruce and Bob, and I think I've just taken their picture. Then I show the view in front of me, and I probably think I just took another picture. Then I drop the camera, and it's just dangling from my wrist by the strap.... you see my saddle bag on my saddle, my boot, Bay's neck, the grass, lol...
On the audio, I say first that it looks like a good "bear spot" (but we didn't see any bears yesterday) and then I apologize because they're trotting to keep up, I say "I'm trying to slow him down!" Bay was happy to be moving out. He'd been behind Bob and Kai for awhile and he likes to go first and fast. If they were easier for people to see, it'd be fun to do videos instead of pictures, of bridge and water crossings, etc.
Anyway, here's two links for the video. Download them to your desktop to play them, don't try to stream them. To download them, right click and choose "Save target as" and save it to your desktop. Then they should play in windows media player. If you have slow dial up, neither are probably worth the time, it's just an accidental video that I thought was funny.
I clicked the small version. It's probably just I don't know what I'm doing, but nothing is happening other then a big Q looking thing in the middle of the screen. Maybe mack can do something with it when he gets here.
Becky
You're on a mac? 2J - how do you download video to the desktop on a mac?
I end up doing laundry or cleaning house or reading when I'm waiting for snapfish to upload pictures.
Yeah - it's not worth it if it's gonna be a long download. I'm on cable and the large version downloads in about 3 minutes.
I think I can download and watch it Monday when I get back to work.
You don't even have access to cable out there? Dang... Do you have cable TV?
OK - well that probably works well down there... People have a hard time with it here... too high a latitude, it has to be pointed practically at the horizon, and with trees and hills, lots of folk who have tried it have trouble...
Not that they appreciate it Bay's running circles on his tie...
They prefer dusty ;~D
LOL...Now this is spreading 'em. My Granddaughter and I rode this elephant at the Medeviel Faire today.
The Medevil Faire had a pirate theme today. My granddaughter dressed up, but was not too happy about the attention she got. She felt she was being "bad" by being a pirate.. ;')
I thought these people looked cool
Wow! I was watching the weather channel this morning, and they stated how dangerously hot it was going to be in the Mid-West. That would be so miserable. Not much you can do, but stay in the house with the A/C running. It was 84 today, sunny, and not humidity. Tomorrow is another story. Hot, humid and thunderstorms. Being as I goofed off today, it will be house work and laundry tomorrow.
Do you have him entered in furturies?
I was able to watch your movie, that was pretty funny. My mother accidently dialed my number once and I was listening to what she was doing. I started screaming "mom!" to see if she could hear me but she never did.
She looks great as a pirate ;~D
Those medevil fairs are fun!
I don't think it made it to 107, altho it broke 100, totally unforecasted, the temps suddenly dropped 20 degrees a little while ago and we got some thunder storms.
Becky
Heh... I had a friend whose cell phone called me when she was at a bar and she didn't know... I could hear her talking, but she couldn't hear me yelling either... I was yelling "Hey! I'm in your purse!"
Now that could have been really good listening, if your friend had gone home with whomever she was chatting with...
