The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

The sauce sounds like a GREAT idea, wimmag! From what I understand, the guys like to spice up the MRE's sometimes, and even if they're in the mess hall, a little tabasco would be mighty welcome.

And don't fight over the book...

I've ordered two books, so we won't need to fight. ;o)

Happy HP eve!!

I'll be waiting for my friend to finish her copy before reading it - so careful with those spoilers.

Good morning! Happy Friday!

Went blueberry picking last nite with two gossip mongers from work. Found out the *best* dirt on folks. Times like that always leave me wondering what they say about *me.* eeek.

Will be cleaning the house today and tomorrow. The soiree looms.

Safe travels, Jen!

"Good" "morning".

Yawn. I don't believe in ungodly hours, but this is close. Hope the caffeine works soon. And that the sky is lightening just a bit before I leave.

Three of a kind.

Good morning!

It's payday!

I get to go to an open-air concert this eve; it will feature "Ride of the Valkyries", "Finlandia", and the "1812" with fireworks.

Dunno why they couldn't do that eleven days ago.

Yawn.

Well, it's time for me to get my act together and get out the door. I'll be in PA by 5 pm eastern. Back late Tuesday night. You all be good while I'm gone, here?

'Morning!

Woke up at 3:30 local....normal time for KC.

Did a bit of driving and sight seeing yesterday....all the alpaca places were closed...picked up some cherries at a fruit stand. Visited the local history museum. They had a cute little 38 double action 5-shooter...

Watched the kiteboarders on the Columbia....wonder why no one kiteboards on the Missouri?

San Antonio!

I used to have a friend, was in my fraternity at college...I think he is or was the state representative for San Antonio...at least an area of it.

Juan Soliz. Unfortunately a Dem.

Morning. Well...I'm alone. Jen should be at the airport by now, though her flight doesn't leave for a few hours.

Making breakfast and biding my time for a bit (applying for the latest batch of jobs-I-could-do, too), and then I'm going to a book sale at the library. Hope it's not horrrrribly crowded! And I hope it's a decent size. Is that contradictory?

After that, I may come home and make bread. Mmmm...bread.
