The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Thanks Bear! I sure will!
Hmm... other than my toothbrush and hairbrush, I think I'm packed. What might I be forgetting? I feel like I'm traveling too light.

Borders. They built a B&N basically across the street last year, but we've always done Borders so we'll do it again. Though we may walk over to B&N sometime during the evening to see their crowd of weirdoes.
You have a great time too! And don't fight over the book...

Sooooo...when your child is on another continent the call you do NOT want on your answering machine goes something like this...
"Uh...hi...it's me. I'm still in Brazil....um.....a concrete wall fell on me today...."
He called back later. He's okay. Sounds a little sore and perhaps needing to talk to home after a scare like that.
Apparently he and several other guys were up on some scaffolding. The youth leader said "guys stand up, if that wall falls on you, you could be hurt."
They stood up. 10 seconds later the wall fell on them. No major injuries. Sounds mostly like scrapes and bruises.

What might I be forgetting? A rope?
A hankerchief?

Oh. Ouch. Hope they didn't put up the wall in the first place.
I'm pretty sure rope is against TSA rules.

LOL!
I'm really glad he wasn't hurt much, and I don't envy you the worry you must have gone through...but after the fact, that's a riot.

I'm sure he's okay. Because if not, someone else would have called. But I'm also sure they made sure he got to talk to home today (and not just leave the message).

I'll bet they did. No one wants to leave parents in a panic when the kids are under their watch.
*stretch*
I'm off to bed. See you all tomorrow.

In other news, I finished the bathroom...but before I got to that I...
Financed a tank of gas...
Went to Walmart...
Went to Ben Franklin (craft/art store)
Went to GNC
Grabbed some dinner on the way
Went to Lowes
Went to the Dollar Store
Went to K-Mart
Went to Home Depot
About half of those could have been avoided if I'd been thinking things through.
But, if I do say so myself (and I do), with regards to the way things look....
D@mn, I'm good.

I don't see "got booze" on that list.
Think I'll try to go to bed... do some reading and see if I fall asleep early.

Which's places did you get beat up at?

I need a bit of advice over a very
minor item.
Looking for something in the way of "stocking stuffers" to include with the knives, I came across those darling little miniature Tabasco bottles.

At $155 dollars for 500, that's about 30 cents apiece. It's also the cost of three Camillus BK2 knives.
Is it worth it to throw in a little "unadvertised suprise" in each package?
