The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

     | Upon the hearth the fire is red,Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
 Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!
 |
      |
      | Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!
 |
      |
Home is behind, the world ahead,And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
Well wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heh...I've never had good pumps. Not a single pair. Remember I spent four and a half years going to work in combat boots (ahhh...comfy), and then worked for small places where casual wear was the standard.

But I s'pose I should eventually get a pair of brown or black dress shoes. I don't have anything but white, and then sandals and a pair of brown moccasin type shoes that I bought for about seven bucks, and they aren't exactly dressy. So...Naturalizers are good?

    Ack! Scary.

I have one too many pairs of shoes but I'm not sure which. They do have different functions - the sandals, the boots, the sneakers, the white pair and the dark pair.

Naturalizers are usually "sensible heeled" with "sensible toes" --- as opposed to "keen heels" with "keen toes." <laughing> That's my mamma talking. Naturalizers will last you a while.
Look at Life Strides, too ... the red shoe is a Life Stride, and that's a shoe you can wear all day.

A computer geek somehow gets trapped inside the Internet. Authorities tell his girlfriend he's gone and family wants to have a memorial service. See the video for "Take On Me", A-Ha, circa 1984.

"Keen" ones being the type with toes so pointy and heels so narrow that normal human beings can't wear 'em, I take it?

When the shoe looks as if it forces your foot to look like a slice of pizza, chances are it's pretty durn uncomfortable to wear! :-D

I love open toe shoes with low heels. Comfy and nice.

Evenin' everyone! Looks like we may have us a teeny tiny hurricane in a couple of days.

Yeah ... you know, those were the kind popular in the Forties, too. My mother had freaky toes, and couldn't wear the pointy ones, so she opted for open-toed pumps. Hence, my love for 'em.
Doesn't that top one, with the little platform, just make you all weak-kneed?
I love shoes ...!

Oh, I'm sorry! Now I see what you're asking! I posted the first one with the kind lady's actual name in it.

I don't like to do that, so I posted it again with her name removed and then had them delete the first one.

Rose, I really like the black pumps with the white stitching. My problem is that my foot is an odd size. I hafta get Naturalizers for interviews, but for comfy casual, I go with Walmart's earthshoe or whatever it's called.

To: Rose in RoseBear
Those two-toned croc pumps are nice.

Women's shoes are one of the really big reasons I'm glad I'm a guy. Some of those things look like mideaval torture devices. :-)

Then again, we never hafta wear ties. My brothers tell me uncomfortable shoes are a fair trade-off. I wouldn't know. ;-)

Personally, I think my brothers are just sissies in that regard, but...don't tell 'em I said so.

Well... ties can be uncomfortable. Though... I haven't worn one in years. I've switched over to the khaki and polo shirt sort of attire. :-)

To: Ramius
Most of 'em are medieval torture devices. Evil things.
