The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

The only thing I can think might be "Bait and Switch"? They signed everyone up for one support group under one state-wide organization, (BA CHEF under big CHEF), then switched it to another support group under a different state-wide organization (CHEER under OCHEC), without asking anyone if that was ok with them. It ended up being ok with most, but not with a few. Those few (including me) are the re-organized BA CHEF under big CHEF. The only difference between me and the rest of the re-organized group is that I never signed up last spring, thus I never was a member of the new support group. All the other ladies had to ask for their money back.

Heh...all you really need to know is that we *were* BA CHEF support group under the CHEF organization, the other group split off and became another name under another organization, and we remain as BA CHEF under CHEF.

See, if you go to big CHEF's webpage, you can see all the organizations under it.

http://www.chefok.org

I've been working with the webmaster of that website...when you click on that "Broken Arrow" link, it'll take you to our page and I've completely re-done it to reflect what we are now. Also, the link that you click for more info *used* to go to our former leader...it now comes to me.

ecurbh is playing Christmas music this morning, and then trying to get ~me~ to explain why I'm giving him quizzical looks. Can you explain that?

Thanks!

I used to be geared toward a much larger group, discussed "teams" you could be on and such...

I went in and removed every reference to teams. When I first joined and we were fairly small (only 72 families), we each had a job. None of this stupid team bidness.

I have animosity even just toward the word "team", at this point.

Maybe he's had a premonition that he's gonna get blowed up in a freakish, and yet tragic, HTML accident and he wants to spend one more holiday with you...

Or maybe he's just weird.

Hmmmm...maybe that's my plot for Nanowrimo.

A computer geek somehow gets trapped inside the Internet. Authorities tell his girlfriend he's gone and family wants to have a memorial service.

But she knows he's "out there" somewhere, but she can't get the page to load because it's graphics intense and she doesn't have enough memory.

So Santa leaves a memory card in her Christmas stocking...

That's good for what? About 20-30 words?

Isn't that kinda like what happened to Lawnmower Man?

It's been a long time since I saw it and was probably drunk at the time, so I can't really remember...

I was just protesting the scenario where the one in the room who ~isn't~ doing something highly unusual should have to defende ~their~ position. ;~D

Well, we're off now, to repair some fencing. We lost an old pasture corner post the last time we tightened the wires... a little too tight. Have the posts to put in a new corner.
