Heh...Tennessee Ernie Ford is part of a lot of good memories for me.
I remember one day in particular when Mom and my brother Ben and I got *hopelessly* lost on central NH, for HOURS. We had a Tennessee Ernie Ford tape of mostly gospel songs with us, and Mom and I played it over and over and over and sang along doing harmony and all. My brother was in the back seat and finally gave up tryin' to make us stop, though I don't think he joined the choir. ;-)
We did eventually get home. But sometimes getting lost is more fun than finding where you actually meant to go...
Same here, but my dad was a baritone.
Good story and I agree, sometimes the journey is more memorable than the destination.
Especially in Central NH, which is lovely country!
Yep! Though amazingly short on major roads in many areas. We saw lovely little town after lovely little town, none of which had even major state routes goin' through 'em. We kept thinking "we'll just go a bit farther and surely we'll get to SOMEthing", but it wasn't really happening.
Can't-get-there-from-here kind of country.
Miss Cat is awfully affectionate tonight....
I'm not surprised, you've got a nice kitty whereas ours usually make us pay for abandoning them, usually hour for hour.
Heh...mine greet me loudly if I walk outside the apartment even for a few seconds. I go down to check the mail and when I get back they act as if I've been away for days. Silly kitties.
Well....she did get some tuna tonight.
She's curled up next to me and swishing her tail.
Hmmm. cats have a space/time displacement thing going on?
Heh - tuna in spring water or with tasty morsels of 'flipper'? :-)
Chunk light in spring water with salt. She won't have it any other way!
Evenin' (mornin' to some).
Just droppin' by. Our Internet was out all day today. Came back on sometime this evening.
Wife and I went to a wine tasting at friends' house. The four couples there are all members at our church. We've decided we can now say we're in a small group.
We're calling it "The New Vine" fellowship.
New Vine Fellowship... I like it.
It started out as a joke. But we've already made plans for our next meeting.
How appropriate! I've discovered I kinda like Sauvignon Blanc. I had some while Paul was home; he bought a Chilean SB. Then I had some Napa Valley type when we went out to eat the other night that was also good. I bought a bottle of New Zealand SB the other night, but haven't opened it yet. Might just pour myself a glass on the way to bed in a minute.
Have had two marathon days of shopping. Yesterday it was for David to get some shorts for Texas, and today it was Joseph for clothes and new shoes for school. I'm wiped out, and will be happy if I don't see another mall for awhile. ;o)
We tried a Sauvignon Blanc. It wasn't bad. Had a really good Pinot Noir as well.
I believe in "taking a little wine for thy cholesterol's sake."
We made big purchases today. Bought a stove and refrigerator. Had to. Ours are dying. And we looked at new floors, which are also a have to.
I just hope we still have all the stuff when we finally get them paid off.
g'nite
We bought some Texas White, Pinot Grigio, and some White Merlot coupla weeks ago. The pinto was okay alone, better with food. The white merlot was too fruity. The Texas White was really nice. Figures :-)
