The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Atlanta is at least nice and open.

Detroit is my least favorite, partly because it's NOT open. Ick. I dunno the name of that airport, but I really don't like it. And Newark is another I DETEST.

I absolutely love the airport in Frankfurt, Germany. Germans may have their faults, but they are GOOD at organization, and the whole place is nice and bright and easy to get around.

Ever been through Memphis or Detroit? I'm Memphis going, Detroit coming and in Detroit I'll have little-sister-who-has-been-on-plane-once. She'll probably get pulled out of line for a security check.

Which would of course be wise since she's Talon's main competition for Ruler of the Earth, but she won't be carrying contraband on the plane.

When I get my dream place, I want a chest freezer. ;-)

Then I can, for example, make an extra lasagna anytime I make that and stick it in the freezer, and ditto for other dishes, until I've got a good supply. Plus meat and vegetables and all.

Freezers are a vey wonderful invention.

Memphis, yes - but I didn't deplane. Haven't been through Detroit.

Just went throuhg Detriot yesterday and it was not bad. Never had been for me but the layout is DUMB. That stupid tram is useless. With only 3 stops they are never where I can use them. I do like the psychedelic tunnel of light they have.

Yeah, but I got most of them so far. Corin robbed me once or twice. But that's what dwarves do.

I'm going blueberry picking this evening. Will use some for a pie for the soiree; will put the rest in the freezer. Freezers are *great*

I haven't necessarily had trouble there, but I'm nervous in crowds and such. Because Detroit has such narrow walking areas, you kinda can't help being crowded.

Be sure to check out their psychedelic tunnel of light. It is between B&C concourses and A, the main one.

Is it easy to navigate? And did they have food there, or should I insist we bring food along?

Tunnel of lights? On the tram or what?

Mmmm...blueberries.

Wish they weren't so expensive fresh! I almost bought some this morning, but even at the sale price, I couldn't quite bring myself to spend two bucks for maybe two cups. I guess that's as cheap as they get, and it's likely I'll break down soon (wanna make buckwheat blueberry pancakes at some point), but they're lots more expensive than other fruit.

That Girlfriend thing sounds interesting!

I took a class once that taught you how to do that "cook for a day, eat for a month" thing. I really want to do that. I should try to do it at least once before school starts back up...

I love my red-doored freezer, but I would also dearly love a chest-type too.

I figure if I worked in conjunction with my bread machine, I could could crank out 12 loaves of bread in 18 hours.

I would call Detriot and upper mid size airport (or a lessor-major one). It has plenty of food places so no problems. I grabbed some to-go deli samichs on my way through. The tunnel is an underground with moving walks. It has super-nifty lighting.
