The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

To: Overtaxed
Nope - we didn't! And we sure looked in some of those meadows. And these would be slow, fat, never hunted park Elk. But we were not lucky I guess. :~D
Good morning!

Morning! ~sip~
I'm waiting for the vet to open so I can spring TheCat.
Looks like it's too wet to mow today. :)
To: RosieCotton
Splendid news!!!!!
Now you just have to get through a weekend of waiting. ;)

My Big Fat Greek Wedding is one of my faves! Not only is it charming and hilarious - it wasn't a Hollywood production!

Gorgeous!

I'm processing maters again today. Next year I will attempt canning. This year, however, I'm making sauce and freezing it. I'll get at least 2 quarts of finished sauce today.
Am also going to try making some yogurt.

no guard railsEEK! That would make me VEY nervous! Great pictures, though. It looked like the perfect day for Rainier viewing!
Seeing the dogs, I was wondering if Homer's presence has helped, over time, to make Gidget any less nervous.

Seeing the dogs, I was wondering if Homer's presence has helped, over time, to make Gidget any less nervous. Heh... I don't know. She still spun and barked at every passing car, and had a good ole time. She overdid it though, and got a little overstressed or overheated or something. When we got back here, she threw up about 4 times.... but she had a great time :~D
I wanted to show one more pic - the little skinny high Alpine trees in a close up. This is how trees adapt to long winters and a heavy snow load. Very tall trees with very short branches. I've always wanted one of these as a Christmas tree - 8 feet tall and only 2 feet around :~D

Now you just have to get through a weekend of waiting. ;)*sigh* Yep!
And the interview, which I'm really dreading. I'm not out of the woods yet! Still have to beat competition. I'm trying not to think about that.

I've always wanted one of these as a Christmas tree - 8 feet tall and only 2 feet around :~DSure would take up a lot less space in the room! I've seen artificial trees like this and thought they looked sorta funky. Now that I know there are actually trees that GROW like that, they don't seem so funky anymore.

Yeah, but if you're at the top of the list, everyone else has to beat YOU! Think how nervous THEY must be!

I'm wondering if I misunderstood what she meant by that, though. I know I was told only the top three or sometimes four would be interviewed...but maybe those are considered equal, so when the lady yesterday said I was at the top, maybe that's all she meant.
It does mean I'm one of very few. It just isn't any guarantee. Of course, I doubt the other two or three have as many folks praying for 'em...and maybe they didn't just finish working for another college, either.

Welcome home, OT!! Was your plane ride home rough, or did you fly above the turbulence? We were kinda of worried, it was really nasty looking up by the airport about the time you were due in.
To: SuziQ
Heh, I responded to your first post before I read your comment about Boromir. Guess it affected everyone the same way! It was truly amazing. I stared at it for quite a while.
