The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I have a Network+ book that I've decided I'm not going to use after all. It's the big hardcover Michael Meyers All-In-One Exam Guide, second edition. There's a third edition out now, but this is brand new with the CD still sealed and everything. If you want it, it's yours. No charge!

Sure. I don't think we have any other plans. Although there is a South Park marathon on at 9pm. ;~D

Maybe we could start about eight Eastern-ish? That would be five for you. Would let everyone participate.
Ruthy, forgot to ping you! Sorry! Wanna watch Princess Bride with us?

"Opa!" is a traditional Greek exclamation roughly translating to "Cheers!" or "Hooray!" in English. Also a frequent reference in MBFGW.

Yeah, Microsoft Certified Professional ... you could get the Administering Windows 2003 Server, and be a young goddess (so to speak).
To: Corin Stormhands
That would also make a good chat-view....

Yep, it could be fun. Might be fun to watch at Rocky Moot too.
Can't make yer chat view (was I pinged?). We've got friends hosting a wine tasting tomorrow night.
Saw a production of "Into the Woods, Jr." tonight put on by the Performing Arts Department at our church. Mostly teenagers and younger. They done good.

It looks like they just updated the test in February...I'm reading up on it. So...I dunno if that book would work or not. If it would, I'd love to have it! What do you think, Rose?
Hm...I like the sound of this book. Not a text book - just the study guide. Wonder if that'd be enough.

Well, I was thinking about Network+ after I got my A+, but I ended up deciding to focus on webmaster-type stuff instead... web design, databases, PHP programming, etc. Fun stuff, that.

;-)
I have limited experience with actual 2003 admin, though I'm sure there are courses.
Dang...now you're getting me all interested in this stuff.
Ya know...if I *do* get this job, one nice thing about it is that I'll be making a lot more than I was at my last job, so I could conceivably do a lot more professional development even on my own, if they don't pay for any. Plus buy music instructional stuff. I've been boring Jen with a lot of talk about that...

The Meyers Passport books are good if you already have a good grounding in the subject and just need a quick refresher before the test. I got his A+ Passport book first, but found I needed/wanted more in-depth information, so I used the All-In-One instead.

Oh yeah... Good luck on the jobs, Rosie and Rose!!
I'm tired out from the road trip today. Gonna go take a shower while my wife uploads the pics. (The pics may have to wait til tomorrow though, she's busy talking saddles on the horse thread.)
