The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You and Rosie are both obsessing. Can you go off and commiserate together?

Just kidding! I know it must be rough.... hang on, we're all praying.

It was actually really soft! It felt great. I used it with a Nutragena facial scrub and my face is really smooth!

I asked Matthew if I looked like a younger me and he said he couldn't tell any difference.

I like the way you think...

I'm fretting, though. Think I may Google typical interview questions and do some thinking through answers. The ones I've been asked recently are very different than the ones I was asked a coupla years ago, for some reason.

Ack! I soooo hate this whole process! It's just so hard to act naturally and relaxed during an interview, and I'm really desperate to get this job but can't show that, so I'm scared to death I'm gonna flub it. Or that they think I'm something I'm not, and that's why I lucked into being selected for an interview.

You got to sing
Like you don't need the money.
Love
Like you'll never get hurt.
You got to dance, dance, dance
Like nobody's watchin'. ...

I think she's pacing on the inside. She keeps making vague noises and looking worried.

When I invited the new people to sign up for the egroup, I also posted an email saying that they were coming, and ahem, reminding everyone that if they signed up for BA CHEF in May, they were NOT BA CHEF members, that they'd need to sign up again and if they had any questions to contact the membership coordinator.

I notice that one person has left and a new person has signed in! Yea!

Celeste is still hanging around *our* egroup. Hmph

Have glass on hand... ;-)

I'm just worried I'm getting selected by accident. On my resume under training, I put A+ and Network+, 'cause I've taken the prep courses. Now...back home scheduling the actual test was really tricky and involved a long road trip, so I've not tested. If I had, I'd have put them under certification.

But after my initial jubilation on getting the call, I'm fretting that those are the reason. And if so, I don't deserve the spot. And I'm afraid they'll toss me out on my ear when the truth comes out.

Now...this is all in my head, mind you. I never claimed I had certs. And I have no way of knowing that's what they really think. I'm just finding new things to worry about. *sigh*

I think you need to give her one of these:

Nah ... if they ask, tell 'em that you didn't have anywhere to take the test, and tell 'em you'll have them done in 30days.

If they don't ask, do as Schultz does and say nuffink!

Are you ready to take the tests?

I hope that works...

I'm thinking I may check out Barnes and Noble this weekend for some good books. My A+ ones are an edition too old (and back in Vermont, too), and I had to leave my Network+ books at my last workplace as they weren't actually mine.

But I know I'm pretty close to ready for both, given a little study time.

Or maybe I should just wait until after the interview. And I guess it's a silly worry. I just feel dishonest...though again, this is all in my head.

Am I good at the worrying thing or WHAT? Dang...if they had jobs for that...I'd be a pro!

Ok, this is sort of spontaneous, but I was thinking about how I haven't seen The Princess Bride in a while and wondering if anyone feels up for chat-viewing tomorrow night? Ping to those who I believe have chatviewed recently in the past.

A+ doesn't change that much ... what's new, after all? Look on eBay, or the Amazon resellers.

They just changed the Network+ test, I hear ... make sure you get the very latest book from CompTIA.

Do you have an MCP already?

I dunnno what MCP is...so...no. Microsoft Certified Professional?

The A+ book I actually owned was from when W2K had just come out...so I gotta think it wasn't up to date. I doubt the new one is super different, but I do want a new one.

Network+...the book I learned from was from last fall. I should be ready for that! Just need ta study some.
