The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I saw the "Lord of the Rings Museum Exhibit" today.

http://www.hmns.org/exhibits/special_exhibits/the_lord_of_the_rings.asp

Cost was $18.00 for "non-members", a little pricey. It was not crowded when I went and I would recommend not going at a peak time.

I would not recommend it unless you are interested in seeing at least one of three things:

I'd go, just for grins, if it comes close here.

Back. It was actually a really good night. Nice mando guy was there and let me pick lots of fiddle tunes, and the group was small and laid back this time. Fun!

They did have a life size model of Boromir dead in his funeral boat. It was amazing how real it looked. You could have sworn it was the actor.

As TV becomes 'reality', reality becomes like TV. That sounds almost Zen.

Good morning!

I think your tagline refers to Douglas Fairbanks, and was heard in "Blazing Saddles".

More Useless Information (TM) :)

We saw it on the very last day in Boston. It was very crowded, but we loved it. I enjoyed seeing the detail of all the costumes. Galadriel's while floaty dress was even more exquisite when we could see all the beading and embroidery up close. It was very easy to see why Ngila Dickson won an Oscar for the costume work.

The spookiest thing was the replica of Boromir's body in the funeral boat. It looked SO real! You almost expected Sean Bean to jump up and say "Surprise!"

Heh, I responded to your first post before I read your comment about Boromir. Guess it affected everyone the same way!

Good morning all! I've gotten over Steve's stunning declaration, quite easily as a matter of fact! Even he said he thought I'd hit the roof. But you know, once he missed the May graduation, what I looked forward to was not going to happen. I don't care when he gets the sheet of paper. I'm just ready for him to come home and every day he draws closer to that. He took this week off from work, you know, and has been working on the paper every day.

He was glad I wasn't mad, though. I told him that after all I've been through with the support group and the relief I feel about maintaining our meeting night, there isn't much that could get me down. I actually told him that if he had any other bad news to lay on me, now was the time! LOL

I've been up since early this morning taking care of bidness. You know, I'm in charge of "Information", which includes the egroup and newsletter...getting information out to the members. I'm trying to set up the newsletter...it will honestly only be about a page long, maybe front and back, but I have no idea how to do it...I've never been trained to do a spead sheet kind of thing. So it'll just have to be a word processor document for the time being, till I learn.

Heh...sometimes the best times happen when your expectations are really low, seems like. ;-) And it was just a good mix of people - none of the show-offs showed up...

I also heard that there may be a local Irish session that someone holds at their home, but the person who might know the details wasn't there tonight. That's a nice thought, though. And often it's through the grapevine that you hear about other groups and local bands and all that. Just the way the musical underworld functions!

Glad at least the work will be over soon and Steve will have more time - that'll be a hugh load off your shoulders.
