The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hmmm, wonder why he doesn't use it.

He cannot wield it. No one can...

Has anyone else figured out why his voice gets so squeaky during that scene. Was he sucking on a helium balloon before the take?

And IE can handle other unclosed tags that Firefox can't. That's why us web developers have to fully test on all the browsers we can. (And, it doesn't hurt to write nice, clean, standards-compliant code.)

Yeah, and why it would be nice if comp sci instructors could look at their own fifteen lines of HTML and find the unclosed title tag.

Hey, we're to the part in AOGG that Anne gets Diana drunk on raspberry wine.

Ha! The jedis are gonna love it.

I read them the part about when Mrs. Rachel derides Anne's appearance and Anne flies at her in a rage and yells "I hate you I hate you I hate you!" They were lying in bed listening and Joshua got so in to the story that he jumped up and ran into the living room and gave Steve an impromptu report on the spot! He was scandalized that she would speak the way she did and just had to tell Dad!

It's a riot. I love it when they get so in to the book I'm reading...

I'm sorry...but Viggo's voice really bugs me. I remember when the previews and such were first going up on the movie website, that was the first thing I thought.

I'm a sucker for a nice speaking voice...and he ain't got one. Not his fault, I know, but...

I took Tension Tamer tea to the meeting last night. People thought that was real funny.

Heh...that and I remember getting into a heated discussion with Hair and a few of the other originals about whether or not hobbits should have big pointy ears. ;-) That was back before I even knew whether she was a girl or a guy...

I got used to the ears. But the idea really bugged me at first.

Man...that was the real beginning...when we were still just grasping at any article that'd tell us a bit about what was to come. We had no idea!

Hair and I refer to Viggo as "Mumbly Joe", especially during the special feature interviews. He barely moves his lips when he talks.

I didn't have to! The meeting was very upbeat and optimistic!

See, the other group had a meeting an hour before ours to "explain their side". But according to the ladies that attended and then came to our meeting, they didn't explain anything, they just reiterated that what they did was "bathed in prayer" and it was simply a name change, they'd done nothing wrong. When those ladies came in to our meeting then, some of them were crying. But it passed quickly...everyone was too relieved to see each other and ready to move on.

People were all feeling very much alone until they walked into our meeting and saw friendly familiar faces. We immediately began supporting each other!

It's really going to be awesome.

It's raining AGAIN here! LOL That's ok...we needed it!

The other day a storm blew through and blew the cover off the pool. Leaves and everything got in it and it's rained ever since so I couldn't get out there to clean it!

Well, I got out there this morning before this current rain hit and got it all cleaned out, chlorinated and a new filter put in...put the cover back on. The whole time, it was thundering! At least now it won't get out of control.

"bathed in prayer"

Heh! I hear if you use that rosy scented prayer it is really good for cleaning out your guilty feelings (even if everyone else still says you smell).

Ha ha ha!!

My thoughts about their statement that "all the leadership agreed to the change" is this...the leader selected the steering team. The steering team selected the team leaders. Just because all the skunks tell each other they don't stink doesn't change the fact that skunks stink!

I'm not calling anyone a skunk, mind you...I'm just using it as an analogy.

Shoulda asked 'em if they were prayin' on the street corner.

"We thank Thee LORD that we are not like that other BA CHEF group..."

Yeah, his voice should have been stronger, but he was so easy on the eyes in his Strider scruffiness. ;o)

But thankfully, they've not yet developed the technology to add smell...
