Good morning HH!
~still waiting for coffee to sip~
Good morning!
We had one fairly good thing happen over the weekend, as far as the support group goes...
As you already know, the old leadership split off, right? The thing is, they told everyone that the original support group didn't exist any more, something they didn't have the ability to do. They took the original support group's money *and* the email list, so there was no way to get the information out to the whole group (barring calling everyone) that the original support group *does* still exist. We tried, but it was hit or miss, because no one but the former leaders had the complete email list.
Well, while I was going back through my old emails in my deleted folder, (I keep my emails for just about forever, because I'm too lazy to deal with them) I found an email from the former leader to the entire group.
She had neglected to BCC.
:-D
The current leader of our group has now contacted *everyone* that belonged to the support group prior to the shake-up and let them know that not only do we still exist, (which a lot of ladies probably didn't even know) but we're meeting this Tuesday evening!
Very good...
How about the Marine's funeral in Broken Arrow that was supposed to draw those protestors? Was that this weekend?
Well, good! Glad to hear things are looking a little brighter in that direction.
This is my last week of freedom... one week to get into class mode. Ungh.
Gawrsh!! Thanks guys! ;^)
Corin should like this.......look what I got for my birthday.......(both volumes)!
Did you get new crayons to go with it?
Some of the other ladies went to support the family, but they were in Coweta, which is where he is from. They were part of the people that lined the streets of Coweta and offered respect to the family as they drove past on the way to the church for the services (which were held in BA, as you know.)
All these communities (mine, BA, Coweta) are right next to each other. From what I understand, a huge number of Cowetans showed up to line the street.
NONE of the news channels mentioned the people from Kansas. Not a word! They were only there for 30 minutes and were really swamped with supporters of the family.
When the family departed the church, I saw the Marine's wife. She had two little boys that looked to be about the jedis age and it just tore me up. But one of the Marines that spoke during the service said "These boys will have 120 men that will step up to help fill the role" of a father for the boys...or something like that. (I saw that on the news.)
It was very sad, but I was so proud of the community.
Here's one of their graduates....
David Farmer
(He's actually on disc 4 of the ROTK:EE set)
Heh! ;^)
Actually, I started reading volume 1 last night and I think I need a slide rule.
Yeah, it was very frustrating not being able to get the news out.
Another hurdle to cross is the date we're going to meet. I say our original support group should continue to meet just as it always has, on the second Tuesday night of each month. But Big CHEF is saying we ought to be "gracious" and meet another night, so ladies can be members of both groups.
I say "Why can't *they* be gracious and meet another night??" (Well, that's not exactly what I say...you probably can guess what I say...but that's the gist of it.)
We're going to discuss it this Tues.
Cool! Does she want to work for Pixar and make good movies, or do special effects, or what?
Nice to see you around. Drop by more often!
Clare has looked at that school!! It doesn't have the Digital Video Editing that she wants, though. It does look like a cool school, though!
One of Clare's friends is just dying to go the Savannah College of Art and Design. She said it is the only school that offers a major in 3D computer animation. I think I mentioned Full Sail to her, but she has her heart set on Savannah. Thing is, though, her parents don't want her to 'go away' to school. They want her to stay close by.
Very good. I'm pleased that the Kansas people were a non-event, or perhaps they were the inspiration for the great local support.
Hullo ksen!
I think she'd like to work in the fantasy film genre in whatever capacity she can get. The program is only 14 months long (but costs just under $42,000!!!) so I told her maybe by the time she graduates high school (in three years) and graduates from this program that PJ could be ramping up for the Hobbit. ;^)
If they ever did movie versions of Dragonlance she'd like to get involved in that too. I'm sure as time goes on she'll get more focused. Right now she needs to get out of high school.
Precisely.
And the news not covering it at all was kind and sensitive to the community and the family. Plus I imagine if they had covered them, the backlash would have been horrific.
I mean, we're talking Oklahoma. A little town in Oklahoma had a Support the Troops rally when OIF started and more people showed up than even lived in the town!
It was very cool. I drive right by it everyday going to work and I had no idea what the place was til about a month and a half ago!
I heard yesterday that in the next year or so there will be a revamping of their computer animation dept.
Hi Hair! How's marriage treatin' ya?
Yer showin' yer age...
