I can you help me get the word out about this soldier songwriter to the ping list. Here is the email I got from him.
To: MNJohnnie
hey, my name is JR Schultz, you probably think i'm crazy, but I served with Luke and actually wrote most of the lyrics to that song. I enjoy getting online and seeing what everyone has to say about the song even though I barely get any credit for it. Anyway, you seemed pretty interested in the topic and I thought you might like to know the story behind Luke's rise to fame. He and I, along with another soldier named Nick Brown spent our spare time playing guitars and began writing songs dealing with our experiences. Between the three of us we recorded around 15 songs. Our original plan was to come home and have some CDs printed for family and friends who wanted them and also try to sell them online. Obviously, Luke's success has kept him from doing this but Nick and I have a website where we are selling a 13 track CD of songs we wrote and recorded in Baghdad. If you are interested, the site is www.iraq-songs.com . We don't quite get the advertisement that Luke gets so we'd appreciate any help in spreading the word.
Thanks man. JR

Sure Johnnie, pinging the list!
Ping to #6,101
Roger.
You forgot the part where he drops the lance, unslings his Uzi and makes instant boar-burgers :)
I'll be posting on my blog again on Tuesday and will make sure to make mention of this!! Thank you for the ping.
We have a HUGH thunderboomer moving through our area. The lightning and thunder have been going on for the last half hour, but as yet we've had no rain!
Forget that no rain thing. It POURED here for about a half an hour!! We needed it badly! The temp dropped about 10 degrees, too. According to weather.com, we've got another line headed our way with some nasty red/orange bits in it.
Whoa - the sun just came out! Haven't seen that for a while!
Got a couple little shelf things from the thrift shop this afternoon. I've got them back in the corner with my desk - two of them hold my reference and text books, and I've got a rack designed for dvds with my manga collection. Makes things a lot easier. And I called home and managed to talk to everyone. Now it's almost time for church.
Whoo-hooo; rain and temp drop, glad to hear you all back there got a bit of it.
Still got some off/on light rain, mainly over though. Weatherweenies have been saying the temps are going to last. Can hope so.
heh, probably a reasonable scenario. I'm still more of a traditionalist, 'unslinging the bow, nocking a shaft and taking careful aim, looses the arrow..' keeping in mind he still has a belt 'hawk and knife.
Random stupid bow question: if one is left handed, would you shoot the bow 'backwards' from normal? Or does one hand always hold the bow, regardless?
Evening Jen - a random perhaps, certainly not stupid, question. A right handed archer hold the bow in the left hand, drawing and releasing the arrow with his right. A left handed archer would hold the bow in his right hand.
Since there are always other factors, one is eye dominance. Generally, right handed is right eye dominant. However, occasionally you'll find someone that has a left eye dominance, as an archer they would more likely shoot left handed.
Most archers use the mediterranean release, two fingers below the arrow and one above. Some use all three under the arrow nock. This style of release means the arrow pass is on the left side of the bow for a right handed archer.
The use of 'horn ring' or thumb ring, pulling the bow string with only your thumb as many Oriental, like the Koreans, and eastern Europeans did and continue to do so. THis means the arrow pass is on the right side of the bow for a right handed archer. The Hungarian horse archers such as Lassos Grasos continue to teach that style.
Tune in next week for the continuing story of 'know your bow'. :-)
Looking at the map, we have another line that is expected to be here just before midnight. There won't be a whole lot of sleepin going on then, that's for sure. From the looks of it, OT may not have gotten ANY of this rain. It seems like it's sliding just north of the Cape.
Bummer about the webcam Hair. But you can see by the link you posted above, it's working now. Anyway, this'll prove we was there...
Here's the view we had of Hair and ecurbh...
Took these next two to show Hair the contrast in the surf. This was yesterday afternoon.
This was this morning from the pier. Although she's turned and not heading to land, you can still see the effects of Irene.
Yes I know, it looks like a calm day in the Pacific...
*The Breaking of the Fellowship
Thanks! That's a good explanation. Eye dominance, huh? How would you tell which eye is dominant?
It's the one wearing pants...
Welcome back!
Great pics! Did your wife think you were a little nuts calling so people could watch you on the webcam?
Hold a finger up in front of your face and look at it with both eyes. Then close one eye, then try with the other eye. One of them, the finger will 'move' and one (your dominant eye) it won't. Makes a difference on sight picture :~D
