The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good Morning OT, G'nad, All. What a difference a couple days makes. Overcast, a bit of a drizzle, and 63 degrees. Gypsygirl was a happy camper on our walk. We had over four inches of rain in the past two days.
OT - hope the Merlot was in the 'large' size. Hope you get some of these temps back there.
G'nad - did the rain make it to Dogwood Ridge? How are thepups settling in?
Was able to spend some quality time with an osage quarter split I was gifted at MoJAM. Will be drawknifing and scraping today in my quest for 'the one ring' in the stave today.

I sure wish it would rain here soon, though I wouldn't want to spoil OT's beach holiday. ;o)
Our front yard crunches when you walk over it. We don't water the grass; that just encourages it to grow. Besides, I figure if God wants the grass green HE'LL water it!

Highs are supposed to be upper 80's today...70's tomorrow with rain.
Wonder if my sump pump came on....
To: SuziQ; Overtaxed
SuziQ - Well, wouldn't the rain to spoil the beach trip either. We still need a bunch more to really make a big difference but this is welcome none the less. The temperature drop was a big surprise and very, very welcome.
OT - Hope so too!! Glad you're getting a break in the weather.

Funny you should mention it! I just got off the phone with him! He was standing at the pier... but the live cam isn't working. Hasn't refreshed since 7:39 eastern.
So - bummer... he said he'd just take a picture himself and post it!

Morning Hair - 'Series Bummer', well, I guess he'll just have to try again next year. Foisted by 'technical difficulties.' Thanks for the update.

Here's ecurbh's horse surprising him yesterday by hopping over a log instead of just stepping over it.

Yeah - we're gonna have to get ecurbh a different saddle though if she keeps that up, - jumping in a western saddle can be life-changing for a guy. ;~D
It was a pretty tall log, Bay hopped over it too.

Way to go Ecurbh - you and Cyn will be jumpin cricks and fences afore too much longer. Following the baying hounds, through the rainy forest to the edge of the fens, penant on the lance snapping, till it's lowered, waiting for the moment when the boar sees the horses, whirls and charges.

Well, it ~ could ~ happen, provided one is able locate to a lance (with penant), a pair of hounds (Giget & Homer?), a fen, and a wild boar, although I do believe you have a rainy forest nearby. :-)
