The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm glad you knew it. As late as an hour ago, we just weren't sure.

OK,
HERE is the link to the slideshow, with suitable captions, of some of the pictures of our trip!

Doesn't work for me. Maybe it's just a matter of a link for "outsiders" needing to be different than the one for the actual York user. Hair...do you know how to link to a slideshow?

I just clicked on the "HERE" in the post, and it went to the York page, and I just clicked on "Play Slideshow", and it worked.

Am looking forward to seeing it!
Oooh, my habit of being superfriendly with the department secretaries may have just paid off - if I can use the fourth edition database text instead of the recently released fifth edition. The one secretary happened to be getting rid of old editions of things and gave me the book. If I can use it, that saves me $120.
This book's still in the shrinkwrap...

York photo asked me to log on first. And since I don't remember my password, and they'll mail it to my personal email address, and since the firewall at werk blocks webmail, I'll have to wait until I get home.
To: SuziQ
Yeah, but I think that's 'cause you're logged in as you. Here, I get an error saying "The page you requested doesn't exist. Please go to www.yorkphoto.com or click on the button below. Thanks!"
It's probably something simple...what about linking to the actual album? Maybe that would work, and then we can click on the slide show feature?

You have to be a member at York, and I'm not any more. It sends us to a home login page. You can post pictures, but we can't see the album, unless they now have some kind of setting making the album public.

I have a York account, but I still can't figger it out. I get logged in...but even when logged in, that link brings me to an error page.

OK, I guess I need folks' e-mail addies to do this. Please freepmail me your e-mail addresses if you're interested in seeing the Japan slide show.
