The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm still prayin' for ya! Keep praying about my job situation...I'm really hoping to have a final answer by next week. Even if it isn't the job I really want (the college computer support one), I'd feel better at least having paychecks again! Yeesh.

Could be, it looked fairly new.

And to be out of the house more, I'd guess. I'd go stir-crazy.
Maybe we'll both start working longer hours at the same time, once school starts I'll be here at least an extra ten hours a week, plus lots and lots of homework hours.

Thanks...I appreciate that. All this uproar has caused me to feel like I have the flu.
I will keep you in my prayers...is this the job where you had to get up so early for the interview?

That's not the college one...but yeah. It's not really what I want...but I'll take anything at this point.
It's been really discouraging...this whole move. I mean...everything happened so fast at first, which I figured was a sign I was where I was meant to be. All this...hasn't exactly been affirming.
And I'm feeling ticked off again right now because I signed onto the state's job board (the employment department - it isn't just state jobs) and remembered that unless they think you've filled out their database in a way that says you meet the qualifications for a particular job, they won't let you view the application instructions. So if a job says "Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience", they won't let you apply if you have the experience. I can't even view the contact info. So it's a useless database. I shouldn't bother with it, but there are quite a number of postings that don't appear anywhere else.
And I got another rejection notice for another administrative assistant job today. I wish I knew where the invisible ink that says "this person is a slacker and an idiot" shows up on my resume and such.

It's not like I have anywhere to go outside the house. It's too hot to just wander, and I don't want to spend money. It isn't my fault.
Mostly I'm just tired of reading and writing. And there's not much else to do that doesn't cost.

I'm not blaming you, I'm trying to be sympathetic. Obviously there's not much to do. It's been a really bad summer as far as weather goes.
Gas is waaay up. We ain't going anywhere this weekend.

I'm just so tired of everything right now that I know I keep acting cranky. Need to work on that.
And though it isn't like I talk to them more than once or twice a week, not being able to call Margaret and Stephen is weighing on my mind. Hope they're doing OK.

They're having a blast, they aren't even missing you!
Hmm... I think tonight needs to be an artichokes and anime night. Feel like some Scrapped Princess?
Mwahaha... coworker who's changing jobs next week, I claim his desk. It's got a window, like mine, but it's also turned so you can't see what the person's doing.

Got a call for an interview. It's in Windsor...one I applied to as kind of an outside chance. Didn't think they'd want me...I don't even remember what I submitted as my resume.
Ruh-roh. Hope I can find the place. Interview is next Tuesday.
Fancy a quick drive to Windsor on Saturday?

Windsor is just south of here, really close. I don't believe there's anything in Windsor, though. But GREAT!

There's a big company there...not IT related. I applied because I thought it might be interesting...just didn't think I'd get called. I'll tell ya about it when you get home.

I wish I knew where the invisible ink that says "this person is a slacker and an idiot" shows up on my resume and such. That isn't what they mean when they reject you for Admin Assistant. Your resume looks too tech-support and not secretarial enough. If you're really applying for a lot of those types of positions, I'd help you write a better resume just for that focus.
Yes Admin Assistants work on their computers, but you'd need to tell them you can organize and prioritize tasks, write and format business letters and other documents, make spreadsheets and presentations, coordinate staff schedules, answer phones and be the go-to person for anything in the office that needs done. We need to give you new bullet points :~D

One single pack would be fine, thanks.

Thanks be to God...we
passed Algebra!!!
In other vacation news...
The Royal Family of Amber has restored the pattern, and Random has been named king. That said, Corin is giving up on Corwin at least until next beach week. I'm tired of the whole lot. (translation: I've read five out of 10 books and that's enough)
Hair - I walked all the way up to the pier this morning (took me an hour). Did you see me? I'm thinking if it works for you the best time to do the picture is on our way out on Sunday morning. It would be between 10-11 EST. Would that work for you? I figger you've got to let the ponies and ecurbh out to pee anyway...let me know if that's too early.
We're going back over to the beach this afternoon. Waiting a few hours so we're not going when the sun is directly overhead.
Jr. and friend are going kayaking in the a.m.
