The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I read the sentence she was asking about this morning. She just read it wrong. Tom was looking back and forth between Dumbledore's two eyes, not between the two Dumbledores.

There is a 20x20 covered area which I imagine all of the kids would pile under.

Any overflow would end up in the hallway leading to the courts.

Blech!

Let me tell ya about this!

We went to the store and got Matthew a new bicycle for his birthday. So we found one, not too expensive, no name brand but pretty nice.

Got it home and found that it had big places where there was no paint! Like it had been painted shoddily or had the paint rubbed off it!

So we took it back to return it and found that it was SUPPOSED to look that way! LOL! It's the "distressed" look, I guess. Like it's been rode hard.

ROFLOL!! I felt like some old grandma going in saying "This bike is defective." and having some kid with a stud in her tongue tell me "Look, lady...it's supposed to look that way...it's the style!"

That's not how it happened, but that's how I felt! I had these kids in my old age! LOL

Maybe...but it has ties here in Tulsa too, so maybe we'd get to come back.

I do so love the ARNG.

LOL!! The scratches are actually painted on there with silver paint!

It's a riot!

Reminded me of those real expensive "new" jeans that look like they came from the thrift store...

Mornin' folks. 'Nuther pretty day here in paradise.

Walked on thebeach this mornin' in the rain. Didn't care. Sun's out now. Jr. and friend aren't up yet. Luke's been up a couple of hours and is playing Nintendo. He wants the big guys to get up to help him with the game. Dad can't. About 6 months after we got this thing, something ~snapped~ and now I get deathly nauseous just looking at the screen. It's weird. But it also works as an excuse...er...reason...

Although I did reconnect the wires this morning. Boys had set it up so they'd have to reconnect something everytime they wanted to switch between tv or game or dvd. That was getting old. I got them in the right order.

It's official though. Corin is relaxed.

In October of '87', when we decided to move from NJ to MA, we started doing any painting, etc. that needed to be done, before we put the house on the market. We were also right in the middle of a deck and kitchen remodel that had begun before SSQ got the job in MA. When we listed the house, we didn't have the new cabinets in yet or anything, so I just did a cross section drawing of the four walls with the new cabs. shown, and I had a sample of the cabinet material for anyone brought to see the house by the realtors. Only one person came to see the house, and he bought it. We had it sold in less than a week and this was the second week in December!

When SSQ started his job in MA, in January, our house was sold, but not yet closed. The boys and I stayed in NJ because Clare was due on Feb. 15th, and I didn't want to leave my doctor. SSQ came home on weekends, which was tough for him because it was a four hour drive, each way. We scheduled the closing for March 10th. Clare was born on Feb. 23rd, and we moved out of the house on the 9th to make sure it was all cleaned before the closing.

You might start thinking about what you can do to get the house ready for sale, just in case. Y'all have done some work on it already; I know you redecorated your bathroom, so you're ahead of the game. It might only need a fresh coat of paint, which is relatively inexpensive, and frankly, you may not want to invest much more than that, unless it's some essential system like heating, etc.

Good! Work hard at that relaxing!

Whew, had a good bike ride today. Except for the bit with the train. I hate getting stopped by trains and they don't seem to have any schedule (if one always came through at 8:40, I'd get stuck there every day, so this is new).

Of course the scale will now be at least half a pound up tomorrow. I'm retaining so much water my fingers are swollen, I'd like to know why.

But then I think "Why did I want to stay here so badly?" Because of Celeste, my support group. HA!

Hmmm. Maybe the Lord is making it easier for you to make the move.

A good story...that's what I need to hear!

The interior paint is in good condition...they painted it about 6 years ago when we bought the house.

The exterior is too, except for that spot where the pipe leaked and we replaced the siding...we just painted over that section with white primer. (It's in the back yard, after all...no one can see it.)

The garage door is my main concern and likely our biggest expense...it's a massive garage door and you literally have to hoist it up by hand...no springs to assist or anything. We prop it by putting a bolt through the wheel runner when we want to open up the garage. Nearly gives us a hernia every time we do it.

Heh...just what I was thinking.

Even just having this to think about has really made me feel better...this is stressful in a much nicer way! LOL!!!
