The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Just got this email and photo this morning, and thought folks would be interested. Hair, feel free to ping non-HH freepers to this post, if you would.
----------
I can't explain to you the gratitude of my men and me for what ya'll have done. Again, thank you. I really enjoy wearing the knife that you sent me. I'll be honest, its the third I've worn here. I quit wearing the others due to comfort or akwardness of the knife. I forget I have a knife on when I wear the one you sent. Its definately a spectacular peice of equipment. I'm trying to get pictures of my guys wearing their knives. I am attaching a picture that was taken on July 29, 2005. From left to right: SPC. B., SGT. R., SSG S., SGT. A., SFC. C. Alpha Section, 1st Platoon, [redacted]. In the picture we are at FOB [redacted], an Iraqi Army post. We a waiting for one of their platoons to link up with us to go out and patrol our sector, [redacted], located in West Baghdad. Well send more pics when I get them.
Thank You,
SSG. S.

Aw, I don't mind my food running together so much normally...but warming up a TV dinner takes time and you don't want your uncooked brownie to run into your watery corn.
I think you can get compartmental aluminum trays...at a restaurant supply store or something, maybe. I'd re-use them as long as I could, of course.
I don't want heavy ones, because my ultimate goal is to have low-carb TV dinners all in the freezer for Steve to just grab for work.
I don't know how these are gonna cook up, but they went into the freezer looking GORGEOUS. Steve even peeked over my shoulder and said "Those look pretty good!"
The test will be how will they warm up? They have to heat up hot enough for the brownie to thaw and cook.
We'll see!!
(Steve's swimming with the jedis.)

Jr. and worked up until about 7:00 cleanin' out the garage. That included a HUGH truckload to the landfill.
mmmmm....landfill...
Unfortunately now the downstairs is full of boxes that are ~NOT~ goin' back in the garage. The place was FULL of spiders of all kinds. I'm still gonna call an exterminator.
And then there was the birdseed that some type of rodent got into and spread all over the place. Gonna get me some tupperware afore I buy more seed.

We had a similar situation with some grass seed left in the garage over winter. Fortunately our cats took care of the problem.
I was so proud!
To: Lil'freeper
Abby Maria doesn't get out to the garage. She's declawed anyway. Although I've decided I'd wouldn't do that to another cat.
Don't know what kind of varmints these were, but haven't seen 'em in the house at least. You'd think they could eat the spiders...

She's declawed anyway. Don't underestimate her.... she could still get a mouse... if she was so inclined :~D

if she was so inclined. That may be the issue. She's rarely even very playful. She does like to watch the birds tho...

My sister's declawed cat brings up mice and birds. She can get up a tree too.
(No, my sister didn't have her declawed...the previous owner did!)
