The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Huh, creative solution. I don't think any of my friends had much success with the wax either.

Not everyone is so lucky. :-P

I get my "fresh" trees from the truck in front of the local supermarket the week after Thanksgiving.

I could mail you one. The envelope will look a little funny, and it'll take a lot of stamps... but it'll be a good lookin' tree. :-)

The wax was impossible. Way too thick. The great thing about the t-shirt-ends was that it was thin, stuck well to the braces, but kept the braces from cutting into the lip.

You're a model of generosity, but my mailguy already has back problems. I'd hate to be the one responsible for his early retirement and LTD. :-D

Especially since my mom dates him on occasion.

Maybe FedEx then. :-) I'll see if they have tree-boxes.

"Hello, FedEx? Yes... Can you send me a tree box? "

Like body boxes, maybe? :-D

I'd better get to bed. Becky and I are going riding again tomorrow morning. I hope it doesn't rain us out!

See you tomorrow!

I'll bump the HH knife thread again in the morning. It may be too late on a Friday night to get much action now.

Kittens appear to be most resilient critters.

The practice of cat-juggling though, simply must be discouraged.
