The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Muddle mint leaves, powdered sugar, and water in a collins glass.

Heh...I love that. It perfectly describes what needs to be done, but "muddle" isn't a word you see in recipes very often.

Hon, I've never had a Mint Julep either! Shocking, isn't it?

We'll have to make juleps at RockyMoot.

Maybe play one of those games where you take a sip everytime someone says "ring."

We'd never make it to Rivendell...

But oh, what a trip it could be!

Evening Ruthy!

I'm werkin' a bit on the latest lousy-story-I'm-writing, and then there's an ice cream party I'm going to.

It's for the young adults group, but only a few people are coming. Considering it's a hundred degrees out there (seriesly), you'd think more folks would be interested in ice cream!

Evenin'!

Jedis are out of the pool and finished with their showers...now they're watching "Red Dawn".

I'm sipping tea.

The girls are watching Little Bear and I'm surfing the web comparing prices for a good pair of paddock boots or riding sneakers for Becky. :-D

XGI - Friday can't come soon enough.

I've got tea, too!

Caffeinated. Hope I don't regret that. Should still be early enough, though.

I don't really know this guy they're saying is getting the nomination for the Supreme Court, but sounds really good so far!

I saw a pair of size 6 narrow Justin Ropers at the Salvation Army where I got the milk bottle yesterday. I wanted 'em. They were six bucks!

They were red.

Bah, I don't need 'em and six bucks is too much to spend on a whim.

Mine's leaded too...plain ol' Lipton.

I needed a boost, but it probably is too late to be drinking it. I'll counter it with cholesterol medicine here in a bit! ;-)

Heh...I fully expect you to have a panic attack at some point in the future when you realize you could use 'em and want them right away. ;-)

No matter who he picks, I'm afraid it's going to be a battle.

I don't have any plain black or green tea at the moment. I bought some other kinds that were on sale awhile back, and never did end up getting regular stuff.

It's one of those things I always forget when I'm making a list or at the grocery, and then want!
