Today is the 4th of July 2005 Americas Birthday which commemorates the Continental Congress adopting the Declaration of Independence on 4th July 1776.
President George W Bush commemorated the day by visiting West Virginia University Morgantown, West Virginia, he gave an address and afterward he greeted the crowd by signing autographs and shaking hands of military personnel.
It was announced today that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit tsunami-hit parts of Thailand next week.
On Saturday Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld acted as Grand Marshall at the Pepsi 400 NASCAR Race at Daytona.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
My city doesn't allow fireworks displays, sadly.
Several areas here. They are large displays.
I don't go out of my way to see them, just what I
see from my apt.
Hi everyone. Happy 4th July from Australia. Hope you all had a great holiday.
I have a set of cards I bought in Knoxville, Tennessee that had each of the First Ladies on them with short bios and Dolly's card said she had 2 children, but again those same cards say Hillary Clinton was born in 1946 on the same day as her "husband" was born so I know that can't be right as she is a year younger than him. so I'll believe the WH website when they say Dolly Madison had only one son.
Hello what time is it down under
HOWDY!
Like the rest of Maine, Walkers Point is a beautiful place. We spent a couple of weeks in Maine in 1995, after Bush1 and before GWB, and boy did the cops patrol the area. It was early July and the family was in residence, we were able to see them sitting outside --I swear I saw Barbara Bush because her white hair was plain as day. Just don't ask about pictures, we couldn't take any!
That would be great, as I missed the speech too. I'll make sure to have tissues!
Ain't Genealogy fascinating?
There is so much to love about it. At it over 30 yrs.
all my own researching.
If you are a liberal you couldn't enjoy it as working with
principle documents it blows away some of the garbage
in most history books and schools. Especially Docs from
the 16,17&18 hundreds. I really enjoy the original docs
from the middle ages.
Last year, we were at a friend's house and stood in an open field. We we able to see three fireworks shows. Some were from quite a distance, but we could see the high ones. It was really something!
Hello, there! It's been a great day here in California. Just about ready to snarf down some BBQ.
IBD nails the MSM bias that hurts the President/War Effort and endangers our republic!
THE BEAT GOES ON
Media: Who'd have thought that just before we celebrated America's birthday, and just after President Bush asked for support, we'd hear that the founders were terrorists and Bush ought to be impeached?

Hi snugs, it is 11:40am on Tuesday the 5th here on the east coast. Thanks again for all the great work you do posting. Interesting cricket final the other day!
Generally speaking, aren't they a surly lot!
I read somewhere that President Bush was related to several former presidents including Abraham Lincoln, that would be interesting to find out how they are relatd.
Probably from the Gilman line which I have also.
My Edward Gilman's sister m. Lincoln's ancestor.
They were from Hingham, Norfolk Eng. and settled
in Hingham, Mass.
YEP!
Okay, I'm going to have to get into this geneology because if I'm related to W in some way....I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT! LOL
It really IS fun. R.E.Lee's gg-grandfather, Robert "King" Carter who was also a governor of Virginia, married my 8th great-grandmother's niece in 1688. Governor Carter's son John married Ann Hill of Shirley Plantation near Williamsburg (John & Ann are R.E.Lee's great-grandparents).
Wish I could get that far, but I'll have to exercize patience.
