This was filmed on a llama ranch and features Cart Pulling, Fiber, Youth, A Breeding Farm, Back Packing, etc.
It shows the versatility of owning llamas and all the things they can be used for. This was put together and Sponsored by the Lama Futurity Association for the promotion of llamas.
We want everyone we can to watch this and tell your neighbors and friends.
We want them to see a high volume of viewers so they will want to rerun this again in 13 weeks.
The LFA BOD & the ILR
I know a lady who uses rabbit yarn.
You're right. Lovely stuff.
Oh hey.
Before I forget.
There IS "Urban 4-H", where you don't have to do live-stock, only make projects.
However, rabbits DO count if you want to show an animal
We've looked into 4-H in the past, but never decided to switch from Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts. Maybe some day it will be the obvious thing to do. There was a big program in our area of OK, and they had a couple of facilities for children who couldn't keep animals at home.
It's just so hard to schedule all the activities one would like, when there are so many kids!
Well, you do have your hands full with that mob you are raising!
And you are right, the activities take a lot of time, especially if each kid is doing something different.
At the farm, there would be fewer options. (Also fewer bathrooms, but we could fix that :-).
Llamas are "fierce and protective" and they have disgusting spit which they use frequently, yet people keep them as pets.
How tractable are they if they're so cranky? How long do they live?
Tell me what the llama did to you.
Coyotes and buzzards are a REAL problem for sheep people here, so a pair of llamas is actually a cheap solution. They are a good addition to a dog, but don't herd the way a dog will.
Not all llamas spit. If you have males, and want to keep them as pets or use them for younger kids in 4-H, it's good to geld them at about age 2 so that they are less aggressive.
If you socialize them when they are young, so that they are used to people and are friendly, they can be quite cooperative.
Llamas CAN live up to 30 years, but 20-25 is more likely.
The ONE THING I like about this new house is that it has two bathrooms.
Totally weird and funny thread bump.
Oh I like it!
Those llamas look good in blue!
Thanks.
Glad you think it's fun.
LOL!!
Kinda of a not too, clean graphic job.
I'm surprised nobody has made the joke about Tony Llama boots yet.
It's hard to do the graphics. i am unblessed that way.
I am almost tempted to buy a burka for cheap on eBay, find a llama, put the burka on it and take a picture for you and tomkow6.
(The llama won't mind for just a minute or two... we do odd things to them all of the time)
Not sure what I'd do with the burka after that, though
Hey tomkow... Can you flip a slightly used burka?
Damned with faint praise!
Like the profile says: NOT a Happy Camper!
But today's not the day for that!
Besides, Caitlin is THRILLED. Thinks she has died and gone to Heaven.
Cut it up for quilt sqaures for the Troops. Just trying to be helpful. Grins.
I can't sew, but if there's a place to send them, sure!
