Word is The Washington Times has called this book--THE GREATEST COMMUNICATOR by Dick Wirthlin--among the best Reagan biographies ever written.

Wirthlin is apparently giving a big speech at the national conference for Young America's Foundation in Washington DC this August (www.yaf.org).

TOPICS: Books/Literature
KEYWORDS: bookreview; communicator; dickwirthlin; reagan; ronaldreagan; yaf
Anyone read this yet? Is it really that good?

Haven't read it, but it has to be better than Morris's silly book which made me so mad, I had to stop reading it. I just couldn't accept the Morris conceit of putting himself into Reagan's life. Morris also missed much of the connection between Reagan and why he was so well regarded by middle America. Many biographers, like Morris, mean well, but they obviously don't understand grassroots America. Reagan did, but Morris has no clue.

It must not be, because it's not in the Columbus public library yet. (They have everything!)

If you want a really good Reagan book, read "Riding With Reagan" by John R. Barletta.

How about Dinesh D'Souza's biography?

A really great book about Reagan is Reagan's War by Peter Schweizer.

No Reagan lover should miss out on reading this book.

Thanks for the tip. I just put in a request for it at the local library.

ditto. I have no idea why the Reagan family let a liberal write his bio. I had his book on tape and MADE myself finish it, despite turning it off multiple times. Worst decision ever to buy it.

'Reagan, a life in letters' is pretty good. fairly long and so it gets strung out, but offers some good insights into reagans mind directly, with out Morris's spin.

Totally agree....I couldn't stand Morris's book, 'Dutch', either. What a bunch of nonsense! I didn't make it even half way through before I threw it down. I hope this new book is better.

It's good but far from the best.
The best biography of RR is God and Ronald Reagan by Paul Kengor.

D'Sousa is a good one. I think Peggy Noonan's "When Character Was King" was the best. Because of the Prose and the way she approached him. It had an authentic feel.

Yes they do. They must have gotten several of them, because I reserved it on a Monday and was #12 on the list, and got an email the following Wed. that it was ready for pick up.
