Your Best Memories of a Rock Concert (vanity)
Few Remaining Brain Cells | 6/28/05 | Pissant

Posted on 06/28/2005 3:16:46 PM PDT by pissant

Many Freepers grew up in what they considered to be the golden age of Rock concerts. Of course, it may have had more to do with the fact that we were young and fanatical about the music in our youth. These days, ‘ol Pissant prefers the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Military Band music and Jazz, but I have some very fond memories of the craziness of my Rock concert yesteryears. I’m quite sure many of you have some concert stories that rival and surpass mine. So this thread is the place to share!

Following are 2 concert experiences that left a permanent scar on me! ;o)

GGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAA!!! My eyes!!! MY eyes!!!

The high school kids tell me that men now shave their body hair off, and the girls prefer it. I can't understand that!

Backstage with Will Clark - former 1st baseman for the SF Giants.

There are just too many things I could do with that line, it wouldn't be fair.....

yeah..............

Once the band broke up following the "Born in the USA" tour, it was never the same.

Just like so many other quality bands, there is a beginning and unfortunately and end................

A wise old woman told me once - ...

"Sometimes we don't understand everything we know."

"Darn! Those pics would be worth some $$$$ now."

Boy, would they! And that is the only time in my life I ever saw him timid about doing something! What a time to pick to wimp out!

Well, if you do go to HAN, stick around (or come back) the 14th - 18th and watch Dashing Dasher tool around the pylons at Stead Field.

MOODS OF A WOMAN

An angel of truth and a dream of fiction,
A woman is a bundle of contradiction,

She's afraid of a wasp, will scream at a mouse,
But will tackle her boyfriend alone in the house.

Sour as vinegar, sweet as a rose,
She'll kiss you one minute, then turn up her nose,

She'll win you in rags, enchant you in silk,
She'll be stronger than brandy, milder than milk;

At times she'll be vengeful, merry, and sad,
She'll hate you like poison, and love you like mad.

MOODS OF A MAN

Hungry

Horny

My roommate in Boston had even more eclectic musical taste than mine. When she found out RT was coming to Harbor Lights, she bought the tickets and I tagged along. She really spoke highly of his stuff, so, I was quite interested in seeing him.

I'm not a folkie by any means--but I think the line up was Dar Williams, Bruce Cockburn, Richard Thompson and some James Taylorish-type singer. I didn't care for most of the acts, but Richard Thompson was AMAZING. Again, I'm not into folk really, but I found his music to be just wonderful, especially a song he sang called Bees Wing. His lyrics and his music were just brilliant!

The Who- (The Who by the Numbers Tour; Springfield, Mass. 1975)

This was the last of the 'General Admission' tours, as a few nights later, a number of concert-goers were crushed in Cincinnati. I was able to arrive early enough to get a front-row standing position (against the barracde/moat that held the Security) within reach of Roger Daltry. Amazing high energy from all the members and Townsend visciously destroyed his Gibson Les Paul just before kicking down all the stacks of Hi-Watt stage speakers after a spirited, ear-splitting, rendition of Won't Get Fooled Again that preemptively voided any chnace of an encore. This was Keith Moon's last tour.

So did Sammy Hagar.

Once thru a button up on stage to the "Red Rocker" (I can't drive 55 tour) that said "F*#K OFF", he picked it up, asked who thru it, I raised my hand, and he thru me a bandanna!! Then walked over to the wall of speakers and art work that looked like graffiti to a portion that was spray painted "F*#K OFF" and said I painted that, I love this button!!!

Still have the pictures from that concert!
