Your Best Memories of a Rock Concert (vanity)
Few Remaining Brain Cells | 6/28/05 | Pissant

Posted on 06/28/2005 3:16:46 PM PDT by pissant

Many Freepers grew up in what they considered to be the golden age of Rock concerts. Of course, it may have had more to do with the fact that we were young and fanatical about the music in our youth. These days, ‘ol Pissant prefers the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Military Band music and Jazz, but I have some very fond memories of the craziness of my Rock concert yesteryears. I’m quite sure many of you have some concert stories that rival and surpass mine. So this thread is the place to share!

Following are 2 concert experiences that left a permanent scar on me! ;o)

Hey! Be kind to your elders! :^)

Actually, I'm envious of you. I would have loved to have been able to see those shows then.

How about we make a deal? I'll give you a couple years of my life for some of your memories? ;-)

The KISS reunion tour was a highlight to see the original members together.

I would have to say best show was Halloween night,1988 or 1989, Overkill, Motorhead (Lemmie is GOD), and Slayer.

I agree, she is (was?) great. But you would have to pay me to see her in person, now.

I still have a few of her old CDs around. I haven't used them for skeet shooting like I did for the Dixie Chicks.

Yeah it was quite awhile ago. I did attend a Fleetwood Mac concert here in Houston maybe six years ago, but she'd long since switched to the long flowing dress that she wears to conceal the weight gain.

Yes, I have seen pictures of him and you're right. He did not age well at all.

I also had the hots for Jani Lane from Warrant.

(I can't believe I'm admitting this publicly. ;->)

...and I THINK I saw them. I was too young and silly to realize how lucky I was to see so many of them.

I wanna' smack myself upside the head!

Oh man, where to start? Beat Farmers at the old 9:30 Club...Johnny Cash at the new 9:30 Club...Queen at Cole Field House with Thin Lizzy opening for them...Nine Inch Nails in Baltimore, forget the name of the venue (tee hee)...Nick Lowe and Ted Nugent at the Capital Centre...They Might Be Giants at Gaston Hall...and yes, I saw Billy Idol once; couldn't hear for three days...

Another great show was The Smithereens at a small club in Dallas. That probably was the best show I've ever been to. Tom Cochrane (from Red Ryder) opened, and of course did 'Lunatic Fringe'. Cool show. The 'Reens rocked!!!

Very cool.

I saw the dead maybe 9 times. 1978 thru 1990 or so.

I love Johnny winter to this day. I have his new album and it's good.

Never was a big BOC fan, but if I saw them at 14, I probably would have been impressed.

If you can remember at least 2 songs and you didn't barf, you got your $$$ worth!

Dang, I didn't know your guidelines were so tough. I'll have to retract the Kiss concert. Gonna have to think of a replacement, but this may take a little while !!! LOL

Scorched fingers are OK, right ?

One of the biggest regrets in my life was not seeing them in 78. Yes, Peter was gone, but they were still the best.
