Playing in the sprinklers
June 28, 2005 | self / vanity

I just got back from walking my dog.

There were a pacel of little girls out playing in the hose at a house nearby. My, that looked good. It's been about 100 years since I did that. I wanted to join them.

I was just yesterday thinking about taking my dog outside and hosing him off. I should do that. I probably will.

It's that time of year.

Playing in the rain sounds like just as much fun. Oh, for the good ole days.

Thanks for the memories.

We played in the sprinkler with a "slip-and-slide". We always managed to lay it over several rocks and twigs, and they'd rip our bellies open. My brother would always yell, "Your guts, your guts are spilling out!" But they never really were.

We used to have a ball playing in the sprinkler

We also ran a hose on that thing that you could slide on. I forget what they called it but it was fun too!

We used to play in the irrigation ditch! You've never had a good time until you swim against the current on a hot day.

...then again I'm always "swimming upstream" it seems.

More than a few people have drowned swimming in irrigation ditches.

I'm not recommended against it, I just wanted to point that out. ;)

When I was a kid, we were so poor, we couldn't afford sprinklers. Besides, we were too busy walking to school in 3' of snow, both ways uphill.

I don't see how it can be uphill both ways, but that is like my life. ;)

The kids at our family reunion were jumping back and forth thru the sprinklers, and having a ball! Just goes to show, you don't need an expensive pool to keep cool.

And if it gets any hotter today, I may turn the hose on myself!

Well my massa whipped me all the way to school & back while walking uphill both ways o school in 3' of snow, but it didn't hurt so bad because the 300 pounds of bricks we had to carry cushioned the blows.

You could afford snow? We had to borrow ours from the neighbors!

Yup, bricks will do that. Did you have to make your own bricks... without straw?

Making bricks was the high point of the day, but it was hot in the 130' desrt with no shade or water.
