Geology Picture of the Week, June 26-July 2, 2005: Karst Arches in Great Basin NP

According to the text of the page, this feature can be seen on a hike to Lexington Arch in Great Basin National Park. I actually was looking for pictures of Lexington Arch, and there are a few, but this one seemed more interesting.

The site is nice if you like arches (I do).

Living on what must be a karst arch, the high point in the midst of many very large surrounding sink holes, I find the arches shown are quite small.

Are the arches shown the remainder of ancient caves now gone?
