The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XXI~
June 26, 2005 | bentfeather/Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Actually only 70 degrees out at the moment.

*sigh*

This was forwarded by a friend of my wife's from one of their co-workers.

"A co-worker of mine just forwarded this to me and I’m passing it on to you. Her husband is serving in Iraq for the next six months. It's worth a read thru, and a point of interest that it was in a Romanian newspaper.
Have a great day, Nancy.
Sue"

Proud to be an American?
I sure am, and thank those who allow us to have these freedoms, as well as, those who support them!
-Until They Return

We rarely get a chance to see another country's editorial about the USA. Read this excerpt from a Romanian Newspaper. The article was written by Mr. Cornel Nistorescu and published under the title "Cntarea Americii", meaning "Ode To America" in the Romanian newspaper “Evenimentulzilei” "The Daily Event" or "News of the Day".
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

An Ode to America~

Why are Americans so united? They would not resemble one another, even if you painted them all one color! They speak all the languages of the world, and form an astonishing mixture of civilizations and religious beliefs. Still, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people, into a hand put on the heart.

Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the army, and the secret services that they are only a bunch of losers. Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts. Nobody rushed out onto the streets nearby to gape about. The Americans volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand.

After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the national flag. They placed flags on buildings and cars as if` in every place and on every car a government official or the president` was passing.

On every occasion, they started singing their traditional song: "God Bless America!" I watched the live broadcast. and rerun after rerun, for hours listening to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a wheelchair without knowing who she was. Or of the Californian hockey player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists, and prevented the plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or thousands of people.

How on earth were they able to respond united as one human being? Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call, millions and millions of dollars were put in a collection aimed at awarding not a man, or a
family, but a spirit, which no money can buy.

What on earth can unite the Americans in such a way? Their land? Their
galloping history? Their economic power? Money? I tried for hours to find an answer, humming songs and murmuring phrases with the risk of sounding commonplace. I thought things over, but I reached only one conclusion...Only freedom can work such miracles.

Cornel Nistorescu

Good evening Ms. Feather.

Green Mountain
by Li Po

You ask me why I dwell in the green mountain;
I smile and make no reply for my heart is free of care.
As the peach-blossom flows down stream and is gone into
the unknown,
I have a world apart that is not among men.

The Poet with her Mother - sketched by the Poet's Brother Dante Gabriel Rossetti

There is a Budding Morrow in the Midnight

A robin said
A rosebush said
Never stir
Never stir
Half Moon Ocean Springtime came
Red Robin built And trilled
Rose Moon
Ocean
thirsted
evermore.

It came to pass
upon that day
when May was young
Ah pleasant May!

All sweet things pass away
Leave me cold And old And gray

At Bottom

They brought some new stock in today,
And dumped it on my head!
“You have to rotate stock, you know!”
Was what I should have said.

Instead I suffered silently,
I’ve done that far too long.
One needs to speak up fervently,
When something’s clearly wrong!

It’s such a simple job, I thought,
I’ll get a chance to shine!
The other apples all around,
I think would rather whine.

They've clearly lost ambition,
Can’t do the simplest task.
Just suck it up and hold it in,
Is that too much to ask?

I guess a case of attitude,
Is what I now have gotten,
From too much pressure felt too long.
Boy, do I feel rotten.

This War on Terror
Remember
Is all about
Please don't ever doubt

Our God Given
Freedoms

Are you ready
and steadfastly steady
To Sacrifice All
For it?

Our Forefathers did
didn't they!!!

Are we less than they?

I know the feeling Hope. We are in tumultuous times, and I join you in kicking and screaming into our America, with the freedoms our Forefathers knew our Country was destined for. Thank you for stating this spirit in words.
