The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XXI~
June 26, 2005 | bentfeather/Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I suppose a move is not in the offering??

It must be terrible to be so hemmed in.

Well, mom & I (well, mom's given up on pushing him)
are trying to push my dad. He thinks something is just
going to come to him, while mom & I are of the opinion
he should go to it. There is a job in Ohio he could take.
He was working on getting it, but he's given up... again.
Unfortunately, I can't leave on my own or I would. I hate
having my future in his hands 'cause he's not doing anything.
The job hasn't gone anywhere, which seems to indicate it's
meant for him, but he believes God will just drop something
in his lap instead of making him move toward it.

I do agree with you, foot work is needed here.

Yes, help can come but we must take certain actions to achieve a goal.

Notice, our heavenly father may feed the birds, but they have to go to the food.

Yes. There have been some setbacks in getting this job, so
he just believes it's not the job he's supposed to get. But
the fact it's been open for at least a year seems to indicate
it's being held open by SOMETHING for some reason.

Needs action. Hope some is taken soon. The door will not be open forever.

Well, I have to do some errands this afternoon so I'll say, see you soon.

wow, I was directed here by another freeper. Better put me on your ping list. My daughter's totem is the dragonfly and she's getting married this August. The reception is at our home and I've been going crazy with dragonflies. shower curtains, curtains, soap dispensers, etc etc. Lot's of fun. She was a totally horrid teenager and has been emerging over the last year into a responsible and thoughtful young woman.

A friend sent me this, and in the spirit of humor I pass it on. ;^)

A person wrote a letter to the White House, complaining about the treatment of a captive taken during the Afghanistan war. Attached is a copy of a letter they received back:

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, DC 20016

Dear Concerned Citizen:

Thank you for your recent letter roundly criticizing our treatment of the Taliban and Al Qaeda detainees currently being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Our administration takes these matters seriously, and your opinion was heard loud and clear here in Washington. You'll be pleased to learn that, thanks to the concerns of citizens like you, we are creating a new division of the Terrorist Retraining Program, to be called the "Liberals Accept Responsibility for Killers" program, or LARK for short. In accordance with the guidelines of this new program, we have decided to place one terrorist under your personal care.

Your personal detainee has been selected and scheduled for transportation under heavily armed guard to your residence next Monday. Ali Mohammed Ahmed bin Mahmud (you can just call him Ahmed) is to be cared for pursuant to the standards you personally demanded in your letter of admonishment.

It will likely be necessary for you to hire some assistant caretakers. We will conduct weekly inspections to ensure that your standards of care for Ahmed are commensurate with those you so strongly recommended in your letter.

Although Ahmed is sociopathic and extremely violent, we hope that your sensitivity to what you described as his "attitudinal problem" will help him overcome these character flaws. Perhaps you are correct in describing these problems as mere cultural differences. (He will bite you, given the chance.)

We understand that you plan to offer counseling and home schooling. Your adopted terrorist is extremely proficient in hand-to-hand combat and can extinguish human life with such simple items as a pencil or nail clippers.

We do not suggest that you ask him to demonstrate these skills at your next yoga group He is also expert at making a wide variety of explosive devices from common household products, so you may wish to keep those items locked up, unless (in your opinion) this might offend him.

Ahmed will not wish to interact with your wife or daughters (except sexually) since he views females as a subhuman form of property. This is a particularly sensitive subject for him, and he has been known to show violent tendencies around women who fail to comply with the new dress code that Ahmed will recommend as more appropriate attire.

I'm sure they will come to enjoy the anonymity offered by the bhurka - over time. Just remind them that it is all part of "respecting his culture and his religious beliefs" - wasn't that how you put it?

Also, remember that there is a very strict code about what can be eaten and what cannot. And under no circumstances must you ever touch his Koran. It's okay, though, if he tears up, burns, or stomps on your bible or the American flag, if you have either one.

Thanks again for your letter. We truly appreciate it when folks like you, who know so much, keep us informed of the proper way to do our job. You take good care of Ahmed - and remember...we'll be watching. Good luck!

Cordially...Your Buddy,

Don Rumsfeld

Nightshade

This cold dimension makes us shiver, makes us pull our coats up tight.
Announcing to the well-trained eye the year has entered into night.
In the cities our great buildings, tall enough to scrape the sky,
Are now worldlets, with new shelter, whose sole purpose fools the eye.

Nature makes a quite tall structure, but there is no menace there,
Trees reach up in gentle touchings, waving to their friend the air.
These bare thin fingers don't portray an image of the hand of Death,
They reach for Life, and chase the sky ... so close ... they feel its breath.

Star, can you find any of Heather Dales music. I have looked to no avail. She is a Canadian artist with a voice like you have not heard before.

I own 4 of her CDs.

Call the Names
The Trial of Lancelot
May Queen
Dances by the Marian Ensemble
