varying rules for male and female recruits were "unconstitutional" and "incomprehensible" I guess this also means communal showers, toilets, barracks, etc.
Another question is, why should women soldiers be allowed to sport long hair?

I think all new recruits should have to have very short hair. Once they reach a certain rank, the rules could be relaxed a little.

I believe they should allow long hair strictly for training purposes. It is rumored that Euro armies are experts at "girl fight tactics" like flail slapping, shin kicking and hair pulling.
This can only aid in the ease of training.
