When was Ride the Lightning. I thought it was more than 20 years.

Although And Justice for All was a great one as well.(88)

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!

I knew I could count on you for some Nuge. By the way, and for what it worth, I always thought Van Halen's 'Don't Tell Me What Love Can Do" was grossly under-appreciated.

I knew I could count on you for some Nuge.

Especially when the classic "Fred Bear" is on it.(Almost every Michigan rock fan knows that song)

The Van Hagar "Balance" release grew on me. I didn't care for it(except for "7th Seal") at first, but liked it more as time went on.

I always liked the "popular" DLR ones like Running with the Devil, but outside of "Poundcake", I always liked the more "obscure" Van Hagar ones better (Cabo Wabo, Sucker in a 3 piece). I like the new one as well - "It's about Time".

When "Humans Being" came out, I recall driving somewhere in South Carolina with my lady pal at the time and well, she detested the song but I just had to crank it. :-)

Ride the Lightning came out in 1984 on Megaforce. I believe Elektra picked it up in '85, so it may JUST MAKE IT on a technicality.

I saw Metallica on the Ride the Lightning tour back in 1984. They played the little, ancient auditorium in our City Hall building in cedar Rapids, Iowa. There were, perhaps, 400 or 500 headbangers in attendance.

(Armoured Saint and W.A.S.P. were the other two bands on the bill. In fact, I think W.A.S.P. was the headliner.)

Correction: it was early 1985.

Man, I'm old.

It's a remarkable album. The majority of songs are sophisticated ruminations on the relationship between humanity and technology. It's easily the best pop/rock album of the last 20 years, and I personally put it in my top 10 rock albums ever made.

I was going to add my comments, but I think you've covered it. It's possible, given enough time to think about it, I might come up with another album as #1 (Mellon Collie by the Pumpkins?), but I am right there with your analysis of Ok Computer and have no problem w/its #1 status.

I would pick "Joshua Tree" as the top album. "Straight Outta Compton", which did get 10th, was also very good (Have a feeling I won't get too many aggreements on that here though... Oh well).
