NEW YORK -- Spin magazine named Radiohead's "OK Computer" the top album of the past 20 years, praising a futuristic sound that manages to feel alive "even when its words are spoken by a robot."

The British band's album edged out Public Enemy's "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back" and Nirvana's "Nevermind" on a list in Spin's 20th anniversary issue, currently on newsstands.

"Rubberneck" by the Toadies is one I always liked; "Undertow" by Tool; "Master of Puppets" by Metallica; "Nevermind" by Nirvana.

I have to say it's hard to argue with. It's an album that has remained well respected since it's release. Others have sold more, but this album is consistently listed as a favorite by many huge music fans and performers. Damned If I Know

"Black" is truly one of the great rock songs ever recorded. I haven't seen the full list.

If you've never heard it, give it a listen. Several listens, preferably. It's a remarkable album. The majority of songs are sophisticated ruminations on the relationship between humanity and technology. It's easily the best pop/rock album of the last 20 years, and I personally put it in my top 10 rock albums ever made.

the top album of the past 20 years

If anything worth listening to came out during the past 20 years, it's news to me. ;O)

I saw Queensryche in concert a few times over the years but Geoff Tate lost me with his public political ramblings over the last few months or so. Still, a good choice.

In NO particular order:

U2: Joshua Tree

Metallica: Master of Puppets

Green Day: Dookie

Live: Throwing Copper

Public Enemy: It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back

Notice that there is nothing past 1994 on my list.

The top album of the past 20 years???

I can think of several better ones although at least the didn't pick the insipid Nirvana as number one.

Guns and Roses - Appitite for Destruction
Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker, Southern Harmony
Ted Nugent - Spirit of the Wild(His best since Double Live Gonzo)
Allman Brothers - Seven Turns
AC/DC - Ballbreaker, The Razor's Edge
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Vicious Cycle
Alice Cooper - Trash
Motley Crue - Girls Girls Girls
Van Hagar - 5150, OU812, For Unlawful Carnal Knoledge
